Night Sweats?

Had a TAH but kept one ovary. I am 23 days post op and started to experience night sweats a few nights ago. Is this supposed to happen if I still have an ovary or do I have too many covers on the bed? My worst fear was that this surgery would throw me into menopause !

Night Sweats?

Hi, I had a TAH (kept ovaries and cervix) about a week after your surgery. I have had night sweats and hot flashes prior to the surgery. My night sweats are much worse since the surgery.

When I went in for a follow up appt. last week my doctor specifically asked me if I was having any night sweats. I did tell him they are much worse than before the surgery. His response to me was they should slow down and if they have not stopped within the next two weeks to give him a call.

Night Sweats?

I, too, had night sweats (and other menopause symptoms) for a time after my hyst, even though I kept both ovaries. The interuption in the blood supply to your ovaries can cause them to take a little vacation for awhile. It actually took me several months for them to decide to do their job again. in there, things should get better in awhile. Do stay in contact with your dr though.

Night Sweats?

I, too, have had this problem, but it was hard to tell if it was night sweats or fever breaking...problem with various infections. As of last weeks appt, it appears to be night sweats, as the white count has been down.

IV comes out Monday, have gyn appt on Friday, so I think we are doing lab tests to see where the hormone levels are...she thought that they would be more accurate once we were done with the antibiotics.

I have been sleeping on our couch for over two weeks and am worried about going up to bed this week...we will need to change the sheets every day!!!!

Sending hugs your way, and some ice packs, too

Night Sweats?

I had a TAH on Dec 20 with removal of my ovaries. I am not using HRT, just trying some things naturally. I have very few hot flashes but oh the night sweats! One thing that I have found to be helpful is TheraPause. They can be found nationally at Walgrens. They are Coolgel strips that you place on your chest or back of your neck at bedtime. They help to keep you cool. They have been a help to me.

Night Sweats?

I had TAH/BSO on 1/26 and also experience night sweats. However, I don't know if that is a result of Menopause or if it is simply too hot in our bedroom. We do keep the window open (night time temperature is about 45 to 50 here in San Francisco), we have 1 sheet plus a down duvet on top. My husband said that he also felt hot at night, so maybe it has nothing to do with Menopause at all.

Night Sweats?

I've had night sweats every night since my surgery.... getting annoying having to change the sheets every day. I still have one ovary, but for some reason my doctor insisted it would be working- it seems weird that he won't even discuss that my ovary might be temporarily out of order.

I don't think a cooler room would even help my night sweats- when I throw off the covers I freeze, but when I have the blankets on I sweat..... Arrrgh!

Night Sweats?

I kept both ovaries and experienced night sweats the week after my surgery as well. My brother-in-law is a pharmacist and he told me that nightsweats can be an after affect of anesthesia. It was hard to tell if that is what was causing them or if my ovaries were shocked from surgery, but by two weeks after the surgery they were gone.
