Ok, now that I've had my hysterectomy and found out I had adenomyosis, does anyone have any links to some good information about it? I did a google search and came up with some websites but would really like to see pictures of it, etc. Thanks for any help!

Hi Andreah,

I did not know i had endo until after my surgery too. I read all about it and still cannot i had it. I did not have heavy bleeding or bad menstral cramps, the last period i had ws in July of 2004 and even then my period was not heavy and painful. What happend to you? How did you end up with a hysterectomy?

Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Reinita, I've known for years that I have endo, it's adeno I didn't know I had. I've had laps for the endo to "clean out" but it always came back of course. I had my hysterectomy in hopes of alleviating some of the pain and it looks like it will do so since it seems that the adeno was a big cause of pain and I didn't even know I had it! I'm already feeling like a million bucks and hope it just keeps getting better. I never had heavy bleeding either but lots of clotting and stuff like that. Gross!

Thanks so much for the link Wendy, although there wasn't the pictures I was looking for it's very imformative!!! Really appreciate it!

Hi Andreah-
your story is just like mine. I hadn't heard of adeno until after my surgery although I knew about the endo. I had three laser treatments for the endo over several years and it always returned of course. I did a search as soon as I could! Didn't keep the sites though. I remember most being a diagram. Made me feel fully justified in having the hyst.
Good luck with your searches- at least the problem is gone now whatever it looks like.

You're right least it's gone! I have my one week post op tomorrow and I'm hoping my dr. has pics for me but I don't really expect to see them yet. As far as I know all they're doing is pulling my staples out, a quick appointment.

Hi Andrea...I also did not know I had adenomyosis until my doctor read me my pathology report. I knew I had hyperplasia with recurrent polyps, and I have a history of cancer(had 17cm liposarcoma in my thigh last year), so my doctor though it would be smart to have hysterectomy to prevent future cancer since the polyps kept coming back after D&C.
I am glad now that I had the hysterectomy because looking back, by bleeding and cramps were getting worse and worse, but that wasn't the primary reason for having the surgery. At least now, with the pathology report saying adenomyosis, the surgery was justified. It also said I had cervicitis. Anyone else have this? I didnt know I had this either.

My doctor suspected adenomyosis before my hysterectomy and it was confirmed that I had it plus the endometriosis we already knew I had. They even found the colon attached to the ovary with endo.

I do also feel justified now that I have the lab results.

Don't quote me but I think cervicitis is having cysts on your cervix? Not sure. I did have a cyst on my cervix and thought that's what the dr. called it. I'm just glad to be rid of it all. I'm wondering why I waited so long to have it done and put myself thru so much pain. Live and learn!!!!

HI Andreah. I had a LAVH (kept ovaries) on Feb 7 and my Dr. told me that I also had adenomyosis. I have been looking it up online and haven't found much info on it either. I havent had my Post Op appt yet but I plan on asking alot of questions when I go next week. Good luck on your recovery!
