Surgery for Removal of Adhesions, Appendix, Old Endo, or Possible Hernia?

Ok, I have had on-going pain since on/before my TAH/BSO which was in Nov 2002. Do the doctors listen the first time? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! So, I had severe endo/aden and had a TAH/BSO, but also had upper right quadrant pain. End result and in July 2004 I had my gallbladder out; diagnosis Chronic Inflammation of the Gallbladder. DUH, I could have told the doctor that. Anyway I have still have pain and have known that the pain was/is adhesions since my TAH/BSO. I have done everything from lose weight, I can't lose anymore, excerise, eat right you name it and I think that all I did was make the adhesions find a central location which is my right lower abdomen. I have had every test in the world; CT Scan, this scan, that scan and until the doctor gets inside nothing shows.

Last week, I was in the sugeron's office reviewing my CT Scan that again showed nothing when all of the sudden I felt a lump in my abdomen. I think God was in the room with me that day, because the lump showed up that morning. The lump did not show up while laying down but did once I stood up the lump appeared and it was the size of a 50 cent piece. For once the doctor said that was not normal and that the lump needed to be removed/operated on. Yeah, alright, right-on, Yippie!!!!!!! The surgeon believes I have adhesions, old endo, or a hernia and set up my surgery for 03-03-06. I asked the surgeon to take out my appendix too to avoid another surgery and he said yes.

I am in extreme pain all the time, can't eat too much or double over, feel sick, it hurts to exercise, walk, and drive, but I am hanging in there. Because I am not exercising, my belly is now a bit gushy and I have been able to feel about 5 more small pea size lumps since last week.

I am scared but happy at the same time about having surgery but I will let you all know what is found etc.

Talk to you soon.

Good luck to you in your surgery, I hope that all goes well.
What made the doc think the lumps were adhesions?
Are they going to do it with a laparoscope?
I'm curious because I may have the same type of thing going on and want to try to get to the bottom of it!

Surgery for Removal of Adhesions, Appendix, Old Endo, or Possible Hernia?

Hi Jan,

Because I had severe endo and had an abdominal hysterectomy, the surgeon thinks I have adhesions and possibly a hernia. I personally do not think I have a hernia, but hey at least I am getting the proper care that I need right now. With the exception of my current OB/GYN I think most doctors could care less if we/I have adhesions. But now after 3 years, my adhesions are getting in the way of my eating, having a bowel movement which causes me to take stool softeners for my constipation, and I can only eat a little at a time or I get sick, and now I think my doctors are worried. I also told my surgeon that when I had my TAHH/BSO, by my ex-quack OB/GYN, I bruised so bad that I looked like a black 13 inch screen TV, mind you I have very fair skin, from my belly button down to the middle of my thighs. In addition to the bruising, I had two huge hematomas the size of golfballs where my ovaries were and I guess that is the start of adhesions.

I am getting smarter every time I go to the docotor. How? I take a list of symptoms, which includes dates, how many times I have gone to any doctor to cure my symptoms, medications, I list the amount of time I have exercised, lost weight, how well I eat well and give them a copy for my file which leaves the doctors nothing left but to do X-rays and then surgery.

Hope I have helped and I will post again when I get the results from my surgery.
