Will I need to buy new clothes?

I'm supposed to go back to work at 6 weeks after my TAH. Will I fit into my work clothes or should I go buy a size larger because of the swelly belly? Maybe I will buy a couple pants a size larger just in case?

Will I need to buy new clothes?

By 6 weeks, I was back in my clothes. I already had a "pot" belly so my swelly belly didn't affect my clothing.

Good luck and God bless on your upcoming surgery.

Will I need to buy new clothes?

Each of us are different. I have seen posts that people did not get back to their normal jeans for several months, and then there are others (myself included) that could get into their jeans the next day.

I did purchase a few pairs of knit pants for when I go back to work, just incase my jeans did not fit. I have gone back to work 2-4 hours a week, starting my second week post op TAH. I have been wearing jeans to work, but do look forward to getting home into my sweats.

Wait and see.

I'd hold off shopping until a few days before you need the clothes.
It's hard to tell if you'll still have swelly-belly or even be smaller.
I'm pleasantly surprised that my hips went down and read on this site that happens from menopause. My shape has changed and so far, I like it even though sometimes - especially later in the day, I have some swelly belly.
You might find that you lose weight and need a smaller size rather than a larger.

Will I need to buy new clothes?

Lose weight?? Really?? That would be cool! Plus my uterus is a 3 to 4 month pregnancy size so maybe I will be smaller in the tummy even with swelly belly. I will wait till right before I go back to work. By then I should be able to stand a little shopping and maybe I won't need to.
Thanks for the input,
Betty

Will I need to buy new clothes?

I am at 5 weeks post op now and have been able to wear most of my pants for a couple of weeks. I admit to having a few pairs of jeans that I won't even try, cuz they were snug to begin with. Why disappoint myself! LOL But, I can wear almost anything else I have. I start out fine at the beginning of the day and by mid afternoon, I'm pretty happy to put on my pj pants or sweats! Just wait until the time comes; you might be pleasantly surprised what you can wear.
