When can I take a BATH??

Hi Ladies! I forgot to ask my doctor at my 1 week appt.... When can I take a bath?? I had my staples removed on the 21st and removed my steri-strips yesterday. Do I have to wait until I go back at the 5 week mark? I would love to just soak in a bubble bath... just once! Thanks!

When can I take a BATH??

I am fairly certain that my dr suggested 6 weeks before I could "soak" in any water.

You could always just call your doctor to double check.

When can I take a BATH??

Duckie36,

I had my first bubble bath yesterday and it was like HEAVEN!! My doctor told me after my 2-week appointment that I can go ahead and soak in the tub. At that time I still had 3 of 8 steri-strips over my vertical incision. I waited for another 2 weeks (my husband is the worrying type!) until yesterday.

to make sure I would check with your Doc since there seem to be various recommendations out there.

When can I take a BATH??

Do call your doctor before soaking in the tub, and especially before using any bubbles! Each dr has different instructions and only s/he can advise as to what is acceptable for you. in there, it may be awhile, but some day you will again!

When can I take a BATH??

Baths seem to be one of those odd things that dr vary on. I asked about showers because the booklet I was goven only talked about taking a bath. I was told I could shower if I did 'down there' properly!!! I didn't use bubble bath (etc) until a few weeks later but that was me not the dr saying.

When can I take a BATH??

HI! I left the hospital after having a TAH on day 4. My instructions were that I could shower freely and bath feely. I didn't actually bathe until week three. No problems.

Check with your doctor to ease your mind, but a bath is SURE NICE!

When can I take a BATH??

I believe that if you have had a TAH, and your cervix removed whereas you had a vaginal cuff...it's 6 weeks, I asked my doc..he said 6, because you don't want any bacteria entering your vagina and finding its way to your healing cuff....definitely call your doc

When can I take a BATH??

Wow I was run a bath in hospital on my second post op day and had three while I was in hospital. I am having sweats so shower during the day frequently and have baths! I found it so comforting. Can't believe how medical advice is so different. I had TAH and cervix removed. Hope you are allowed to have a bath soon. Hugs.

When can I take a BATH??

Maybe the advice is different in the UK compared to the USA. I had horizontal abdominal incision with removal of cervix and I had a bath seven days after surgery.

I think its worth having a chat with your Dr then you won’t worry.

Hi ladies. Duckie I love that your name is Duckie and you want that bath!!
I am so ready for my first tubbie bath. . I am at 5 weeks and a few days post op, and my Dr said NO baths till I go for the 6 week check up. I am a devoted nightly bubblebath lady . esp in winter. It is my time to relax, and many many nigts last wek I have become tempted to do so.
BUT I could not stand it if I did it and gave myself a infection or other problem..
So for me I will just linda
