Home sweet home at last

Just got home about an hour and a half ago. Just ended up with a TAH on the 19th. They saved my ovaries. I had adhesions on my bowel and bladder. The whole experience wasn't so bad. I am really tired and sore. My husband was a great support for me. He stayed every night in the hospital with me. I hope everyone else that had surgery lately had good outcomings. They did diagnosis me with colitits on top of things. At least I didn't end up with a bowel resection like they thought. Thanks for all your support and prayers. Talk to everyone later. Time to rest.

Jamie

Welcome home Jamie. REST, REST, REST - feet up...keep that tummy pillow close...drink LOTS of water and juice and stay away from carbonated drinks and gasy foods for awhile.

Jamie-
Welcome home! I'm so glad to here DH is a great source of support for you. Mine was too, but some of the ladies aren't that fortunate.
Take advantage of the fact that DH is wonderful and rest. The worst thing about a hyster is how long it takes to truely recover. Don't get disgusted when you don't bounce right back. That was my biggest problem. I thought in 3 wks. I should have been back to my regular old self. It took 3 months until I truely resembled anything close to the old me and 6 months to feel my best.

Welcome home Jamie So happy things went well and you were able to both keep your ovaries and avoid bowel ressection

As Dot mentionned, please be sure to rest, rest, rest and then rest some more. Walk as much as you can and drink lots of fluids, especially water.

As Kat mentionned, be sure to keep on resting even when you start feeling stronger: initial recovery from TAH or TVH is 6 to 8 weeks; full recovery is anywhere from 6 months to a year.

Hang in there: the worst is over.

Welcome home Jamie!!

I am glad everything turned out better than you had expected them to. Take care of yourself and hope to see you post about your experience in the hospital when you are stronger.
