internal check up?

Is an internal exam a typical part of post op check ups? Is it important? Because my doctor didn't do an internal exam at my 2 week check up and she said that surgery went so perfectly and I was recovering so well that I didn't need to come back for a 6 week check up unless I felt like I needed to. Its been 6 weeks and I still feel fine...DH and I have resumed lovemaking...allbeit very slowly still, and that doesnt cause pain, just some tenderness. I'm not expected to go back until the end of Jan. 2007 for my next pap smear. Is this normal?

post op exam

Hi there!
I just had my 2 week post op and I was quickly examined by my DR.
Did your DR ask questions about bleeding/spotting, etc., and if you answered 'no' to these questions, maybe thats why she/he is assuming that all is healing well within...
I'd call and ask for the 'OK' before I continued with intercourse, though!
Take care,

internal check up?

Different drs do have different follow up issues. If you feel you need to see our dr, ask for an appt. If any issues arise, feel free to call and ask questions. Did your dr clear you completely at your 2 week appt, or were you given instructions for when you were cleared for various activities?

Do remember to ease back into your normal routine, only adding a few new activities at a time. Best wishes to you!

internal check up?

No she cleared me to lift around 10 lbs at my 2 week checkup and said to take things slow and gradually increase my activity level...Wait til 6 weeks for intercourse, and 8 weeks for lifting my 2 yr old...I'm not in pain or having any concerns and I don't feel like I need to go to the doctor but I didn't know if I should?

If she cleared you, you're good to go. Rule of thumb: If it hurts, don't do it. If it don't hurt, go for it.

internal check up?

My doctor didn't do an internal exam at 2 weeks - he is saving this lovely task for the 6 week check. When he said nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks he wasn't kidding. If you are concerned, call the doctors office and speak to him or his nurse.

internal check up?

Hi Miava: Just had my post op 2week check and was cleared the same way healing nicely on the scar and that I'm good to go just stay to the 10 lb limit until week 6 and then go slowly from there. Said to contact him if I encountered any issues but essentially the same directions as you.
