Surgery tomorrow (March 7th) Scared!
Hi ladies!
Only 2nd post here at hystersisters so I hope it's OK that I jump right in and just flat out tell everyone that I am very very scared for tomorrow to get here.
I had surgery to remove my left ovary a little over 2 years ago and even though I was a little nervous, I was nowhere near as scared as I am about this. I know in my heart this is the best thing for me and after my recovery I will feel so much better.
I have been dealing with endo and cysts for years and over the course of the past several months, I have a lot of pain in my sides that seem to radiate down my legs.
Guess I just needed to let off a little steam. I had a friend of mine tell me the other day that I was being foolish for being so scared. Afterall, she said "it's not like it's brain surgery you're having!"
Thanks for listening

Surgery tomorrow (March 7th) Scared!
DoDah you aren't foolish! This is major surgery and you have every right to be scared. I have a very positive attitude about mine next week because I believe with all my heart that a positive attitude going in will help me recovery more quickly, but over the weekend I started feeling scared. Once I allowed myself to think about it I realized it wasn't "scared" as much as "anxious." I know my surgery will go well, I have complete trust in my doctor, my parents will stay with me during the first couple of weeks until I can drive. I know I will have the proper pain meds. Once I realized all of this I realized I am not really scared, just wanting to get on with it and get on with my new life!
Best of luck to you - I know it will go well for you!

Surgery tomorrow (March 7th) Scared!
You are not being foolish. This major surgery, and everything you are feeling is normal. I am sure that other sisters here will confirm that they felt the same way. I know I did. I just kept reminding myself that I had made the right decision with the advice of my doctor. I have great faith in my doctor, and my family is supportive (most of the time - DH has slipped a couple of times recently). I am 5 weeks into my recovery and I know this was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Best of luck tomorrow, and drop us a quick post when you get home and feel up to it.

Surgery tomorrow (March 7th) Scared!
My surgery is the 8th and I'm scared to death. I finally got a script for xanax. Up until then I was getting frantic..I don't know why I am so worried. I think I am more concerned how it is going to affect my sex life than anything...I have only been married a little over a year and since I found out that I am going to have to have this done it has already (or it is just that I don't feel good) affected it. I think it is even bothering him. I am just plain scared.....I can't see my bunch doing everything around here and me laying in the bed.....How long did the doctor tell any of you to have help? My DH said he needs a letter from my doctor to be able to take off from work.....

Surgery tomorrow (March 7th) Scared!
Thanks so much for all of the kind words and advice. I am still scared but I feel better after reading your replies. It really does help knowing and talking to others who haven been through this same exact thing with these same feelings of fear, worry, etc.
Itsme58-My doctor hasn't given me a certain time frame for having help around the house. DH and I have an 11 year old and 3 year old so I know I'll need help with the little one. After DH goes back to work, my MIL will be coming over during the day to stay with me and the little guy and she has said she would be here as long as I needed.
I will definitely let you all know how I am feeling when I get back home.
Thanks again for everything!
Donna

It's natural to be scared. You're facing the unknown, you've heard stories, both positive and negative. Just remember it will all be over soon.
My thoughts will be with all of you tomorrow.

DoDah...here's an oxymoron for you It's healthy to be scared. If you have thought through all the implications of your decision to have this surgery, both pre and post-op, then it is only natural to be anxious. If you didn't feel either anxious and/or scared, something would be wrong. You're only human, and this is a routine, but nevertheless, major procedure. It's nature's way of keeping us on our toes and preparing us for the things we don't fully understand.
I'm very nervous, but looking forward to, after a time of healing, not having to put up with all my health issues. Strangely enough my being scared right now relates to the catheter of all things! I've never had one and don't like the thought of it at all. Maybe someone can allay my fear there too
DoDah....peace of the Lord be with you in your heart. You will be fine *Hugs*
