adhesion surgery last monday

Hi ladies,
I had a diagnostic laparoscopy last monday for adhesions. All went well, I think. I had a LAVH o in 8/05.Surgery was supposed to last 1 hour and 15 minutes but it ended up taking 2 1/2 hours. Ouch! Anyway, I was feeling lots of pain and nausea after the surgery (worse than hyst) and it's my opinion that when surgery takes that long you should stay overnight in the hospital to make sure everything is okay. But, what insurance company believes that?? I am still feeling sore but I don't feel that same crampy feeling that I had before surgery. I am hoping desperately that this is the final surgery and that I will finally feel normal again. Good luck to all of you that are having this surgery! I will post in a couple of weeks to let you all know how I'm doing.

I just wanted to wish you a fast and pain free recovery! I hope this will help you and that this was the last surgery you have to endure.

Oh and I totally agree with you--I think the insurance companies dictate our quality of care these days and we end up being sent home when sometimes we should have stayed *at least* overnight!

Hugs to you
Becky

So glad that you are home and that you feel that the surgery has helped a little. It seems early to be home especially as you had problems this time with tha anaesethic.Have plenty of rest and know that you're an inspiration to those of us awaiting the same type of surgery. We don't have the same issues in England over hospital stays but we are going that way.Sometimes wonder if it's a way of massaging the NHS figures over here. If you have to be readmitted twice I'm sure that they record you as TWO patients ,instead of one ,which makes them look more efficient. In the private sector over here we are certainly moving towards more daycase surgery which I'm sure you're right is because of pressure from the insurance companies. All comes down to cost in the end and not what is best for the patient.
Take Care,

Ann

It would seem that we had the same surgery for the same reason on the same day. How are you doing? My surgery also went longer than excepted and I did have to stay overnight. I have three incisions and so far I am still in a fair amount of pain, especially around the incision site. Let me know how you are doing and if you feel the surgery was a success. I go for my postop appointment tomorrow. Elona

adhesion surgery last monday

I am going in next Tuesday for Lap to remove possible adhesions. I'm going in at 12 and they reckon I will be home by 7 as its a day case and need someone with me for 24 hours. Even at the private clinic it was rated as a day case. Can't really believe it myself and when i went for my pre med last week the nurse said i would be back at work in 7 to 10 days does this seem right? I am packing a small overnight bag ready just in case.
Daisy hope you have a good recovery.

Hi Ladies,
I'm responding to your posts and I hope that your surgeries went well. I had my post op appt last tuesday. I'm feeling much better than before surgery and I'm hoping that this is the last surgery that I have to have! I have 2 small incisions in the pelvic area that are finally starting to heal. I really thought that I should have stayed overnight for my surgery but no, that was not the case. I was back to work in 7 days. Good luck to all of you!

Daisy: Back to work soooo soon. PLEASE remember that the adhesions start to form immediatly after surgery, just by moving around. Try to do your best at taking it as lite as you possibly can. Did you get cleared that fast to return to you duties???? I went back 3 weeks after mine and 5 mos po, having problems Best Wishes
