Just had posterior repair, etc.

Hi Leona,

I just got home Friday from having a posterior repair, a LEEP, and repair of an enterocele. So far, so good! The surgery went as planned, no problems or complications. I have very little pain; just a bit of burning vaginally (the surgery was done vaginally, BTW). I spent one night in a surgical center here in my town.

The repairs were done for the obvious reasons, and my doctor did the LEEP not because he suspected cancer, but because he said there was a lot of unwanted cell growth on my cervix.

I had "the bulge" like you do, which is how I knew something wasn't right in the first place. My doctor is very conservative and doesn't like to cut unless it's needed, but he did tell me this was necessary.

I'm still pretty spaced out from the anesthesia and pain meds they gave me in the hospital, and fairly weak, but otherwise doing well. I go for my post-op appointment a week from Thursday.

Good luck to you!

Lisa

Prolapse Problems after surgery

Leona,

I am having the same surgery a week after you. My surgeon said he had to do this one abdominally, but did my hysterectomy laporoscopically. I think because of the adhesions and endo. still remaining. He will have another surgeon assisting him that is a bowel specialist. Best of luck and all my prayers.

Prolapse Problems after surgery

Leona, my doctor said that the rectoceles done vaginally usually hold better than abdominally....however, she is doing a lap just before the repair due to not really knowing what else is going on.....if I had been smart, I would have chosen a different doctor for the hyst 6 years ago, and insisted on a lap assisted hyst....hind sight is twenty twenty....what I have learned is that no two people have the same dr/patient experience or surgical outcome....

Prolapse

Hi,
I'm experiencing the same problem. I went to the urologist yesterday and he informed me that my problems were due to the hysterectomy. I'm having horrible pelvic muscle spasms, prolapsed bladder (even though I had the birch procedure when I had my hysterectomy) and I think scar tissue is causing some pain too. I'm curious about what your dr. will do, I feel that some more surgery will be in the cards for me also. Good luck!
