Let Your Body Heal

My surgery was on a Tuesday AM I was not discharged until Friday PM, had severe bad reactions to anethesia and pain meds. I live alone so have been taking care of myself the last 11 days. Everyday does get better, however you do need to let mother nature do her own work. I was not prepared to have my internal organs shutdown due to the surgery and then have to deal with a painful experience of having them wake back up to work. The other post-op sisters are all correct in saying our bodies can only take so much prior to screaming back at us to slow down. Yes it is frustrating, but in the long run do you want to overdue and not have your body correctly heal. I started doing some work from home on my laptop; I set my laptop up to remotely control my work computer. I would do 1 to 2 hrs of work a day, again I could only sit up that long. I think you will find that walking, drinking lots of water, eating the right foods will speed your recovery. Best wishes for a smooth surgery and uneventful recovery.

how long hospital stay with TAH???

I had my TAH on Monday, and I was home Wednesday afternoon. I was moving well, walking the halls with my husband and my teenage son when they visited. I had passed gas and was urinating fine--the criteria the doctor set for me. Thankfully, my doctor and my insurance would have let me stay longer if I had felt uncomfortable leaving so soon. It helped that I knew I had things ready at home and would have lots of help.

how long hospital stay with TAH???

Hi there,

I had my surgery thursday morning and I was out by saturday night. I think the norm is about 2 days. I guess it depends on each hospital though. Hope this helps.
