How Do I Calm Down?

Retail therapy works well for me. The past two days I have been so nervous so today I hit the mall. I bought some nice candles, some peppermint tea, a nightgown. Bath and Body Works is having a nice deal where if you spend more than $25.00 you can buy this really nice canvas tote bag for $20.00 It is perfect for the hospital. Got some lotions and anitbacterial gel for my hands.

I feel better now, I think just getting out and having the distraction helped a lot. I did have to cut my trip short because of pain but I don't have the tightness in my chest anymore.

Weird isn't it.

How Do I Calm Down?

Bath and Body Works!!! Thats music to my ears I am going to put that on my things to do for tomorrow. The tote bag deal sounds great because I was wondering what people bring. I was thinking backpack but I don't think it would be big enough.
Like you Tracie, I can only walk for so long without it becoming too painful. What type of hyster are you having? Get some rest, I hope you feel better.

How Do I Calm Down?

I remember feeling the same. Not about the never being pregnant part because my kids are 18, 16, &14 but I was anxious as heck. My doctor too prescribed me a light sedative and it helped me get through the rough time, especially the day before. I've heard some women say the day before they got a calm feeling. I was a raving maniac!! Until I took the meds then I was very nice And I've used them twice since I've been home when I was too uptight too sleep. Don't suffer, if you're freaking out that bad I would call the doctor for some help! The hell I went through prior to surgery with anxiety was way worse than anything I've expereinced post op. Good luck!

How Do I Calm Down?

Hi Sonia,
I am going in a couple days before you, yes I am freaking out too! I am a little better today..I think! I have been hemming & hawing on whether or not I should call my dr. for anti-anxiety medicine....ugh...
I hate to give in! I take a mild anti-anxiety drug normally! It barely helps at all!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took time off now from work also, I can't think of anything else, I would be totally useless at work & I am so so tired and worn out! Are you having the TAH?

How Do I Calm Down?

I am 41, my oldest is 24, my middle one is 22 and my youngest is 12- I had my tubes tied twice (long story). I accepted this as the thing I needed to do to relieve my pain, discomfort, embarrassment, and to retain a quality of life that I had lost. I seem to be mostly calm, but I have moments of clarity at the SCOPE of what I am about to go through.

Meditation helps me. I get grounded and centered and I clear my mind- Deep breathing gets thing flowing again, and after about 15 minutes, I feel pretty good. A Hot bath helps, with candles and incense and some nice tunes gives me 30 minutes of bliss.

I will pray that you find a moment of peace within your space, and that you can come to some acceptance, and complete your grieving for what can't be.

My thoughts are with you.

How Do I Calm Down?

Hi Sonia,
I am still 3 weeks out. When I need to relax I use the anti-anxiety meds that I was given (a real life saver at times) and I just chill out doing something I want to do, whether it is shopping therapy, being here at hystersisters, taking a bath or breaking in my new living room furniture (hey its gotta be comfy for when the princess comes home )!
Even though I havent want to have more kids (between us 8-4 each ranging from 12 to 24) it is kinda sad to know that I CANT. But I have an adorable grandson who will be 3 on the 5th that I spoil like crazy. In fact I am watching him the Friday before my surgery (since "gammy" wont be able to much for a while). I too am looking forward to my quality of life improving!
Take care!

How Do I Calm Down?

I am so there. Even though I had my tubes tide 5 yrs ago, this is final. DH really don't understand, it's a biological clock thing. I see a little baby and think, never again. But, I can't continue with this everyday pain. I have NO quality of life. Missing soccer games, guitar lessons. It's not worth it. I'm just excited to get my life back!

As for the bag, my daughter has a princess overnight bag I'm using. Hey, why not!! I wish you all the best of luck.

How Do I Calm Down?

I have 4 young'uns, 21, 18, 17, and the baby is 11. She and 'bug' the 17 year old are the only ones home.

And oddly enough... I get kinda jealous for lack of a better word, of big ole' pregnant bellies that I see... even though ya couldn't pay me to have another one... I think we may be 'mourning' the lose of ability... I don't know..

I hope you can cheer up. I too talked to my dr. about a prescription for 'nerve' pills... and hon, they really do help... even if you only take a half of one.

Like the immortal Bob Marley sings...'every little thing is gonna be alright...'

How Do I Calm Down?

Sonia, I am having a total or partial abdnominal. Doc is going to try and let me keep ovaries and cervix but won't know until he gets in there.

I love the bag, starting packing it and it has a lot of room, and tons of pockets, a keyring holder also.
