staples or stitches for TAH?

Well back from Pre- Op appointment and this I can tell u . I found out that my doc will be using stiches on the inside of my skin and the only noticeable evidence of stiches will be one on the end of the cut. The stiches that I will have on the inside will desolve on its on . They said that i will have steri-strip and a tummy binder and the only stich that we will see will be removed after one week....Good luck to all!!

staples or stitches for TAH?

Thanks Karrie60! I go back to the Dr. on Monday for my 7 week checkup! Woohoo!!!!!! I obviously had zillions of stitches on the inside, but my incision was closed with glue. About week 2, the incision started to develop some holes in it with some drainage. Went to the Doc at week 4 and she said it was somewhat normal, that I was still healing from the inside out. Now my incision is about 99.8% closed entirely. I'm starting to feel a little bit better finally! Good luck to you and just make sure you try to be patient and heal in your own time frame! Everyone is different!

staples or stitches for TAH?

I had internal stitches and steri strips. I thought for sure I was going to have staples.

staples or stitches for TAH?

I had staples. They took them out at 8 days. On a few of them it felt like someone was pinching, but not bad. I had the steri strips after. Not bad either.

staples or stitches for TAH?

Since I started this post I now can say I had internal stitches and staples on the outside. The day after surgery I somehow developed pockets of blood that spilled out of my dressing. Needless to say I thought I was going back to the operating room. The nurses totally panicked! One tripped on my IV cord! That HURT! They applied pressure tape and put me back to bed. I wasn't allowed out of bed the rest of the day. Thank goodness my husband didn't walk in at the time, blood was everywhere! He would have passed out!
