pre op appointment

Hey all,

Good luck to all the soon to be princesses. The rest of us cannot wait! Well guess we can.....but wish we were on the other side!
Sorry I cannot help on the pre op thing. My appointment is April 12 at 3 p.m. Hardly enough time for a clear liquid diet or enema(heh heh)
Take Care and keep us posted.

pre op appointment

Pre-ops seem to vary enormously, depending on your doctor's preferences, the hospital, and your age and general health. Yesterday I had mine, and it included:
1. checking out my heart and lungs the old-fashioned way (listening with a stethescope); no EKG or chest x-ray because I'm fairly young and exercise a lot
2. no blood or urine drawn--they'll do that 2 hours before the surgery
3. they took a complete medical history from me
4. the surgeon did a quick exterior exam to see if my fibroids had magically disappeared over the past week and to show me where my incision would be
4. and then we spend an hour answering my questions about surgery and recovery and going over the bowel prep (for this doctor, essentially nothing at all) and discussing my impressive coffee addictions (only 2 cups a day, but they're large and very strong, and he agreed I could get up at 5 am the morning of my 11 am surgery and have a cup of black coffee if I really didn't want to face a day without coffee. What a guy!)

Hi Ladies,
I have an appt. tomorrow with my gyn. He will then schedule me for my pre ops & my surgery. I just printed out the questions from this forum and will take the list to the drs. with me. Now did any of you buy the tummy pillow for when your in the hosp or the binder thingy, I think its called the swelly belly? I am thinking of getting either both.
I just can't wait to get my surgery date, I am exhausted!!!!!!!!!!!

pre op appointment

I had my pre op with my primary care last week. I had an ekg, weight check, and blood drawn.
I'm seeing my gyn today. I believe I'm going to have an exam, but I'm not sure. We are going to go over questions etc.

First the nurse weighed me & took by blood pressure. Then my husband & I watched a film. Then we went into my OB-Gyn's ofc. Dr looked at my questions. He explained to us how things were going to take place from beginning to end. Then he answered all of my questions. I am scheduled for a CXR & some blood work and I do have to do the ole colon prep. He offered his home & cell ph #'s to me in case I needed to call him anytime. Now I just have to finish with my other 2 lists: Things to buy and Things to Pack. Then the clean up of my recovery rm here @home. And pack my tote bag for the 8:00 arrival time Tuesday @ the Castle.

pre op appointment

my pre op with my gyn was going over the surgery, signing the consent form, and going over any questions I had.

But, like I said I had my pre op with my primary care were they took my bp, weight, and ekg. Then I had to go have blood drawn.

Hopefully everyone's pre ops go well.. We will all be soon.

I had my pre opt today. She did do a pelvic exam. I will not have to do any bowl prep. Here's the list that they gave me
Do not drink or eat anything after midnight.Do not drink any alchoholic bev the day of or night before your surgery.Have someone drive you to and from the hospital. No smoking the day of surgery.
I do have to go see my primary dr on the 6th.I' m sure he will just draw my blood.
Really today wasn't bad at all.Don't worry everything will go good.Take care and good luck..
