pre op appointment

Hi Tread,
Are you having a TAH? I am and am hoping to have my pre-op next week. I will find out on Monday. I hope he doesn't do a pelvic. I hope I do not have to do the bowel prep either! Keep us posted on you!
I think you & I will be having this done within days together.

pre op appointment

I am having TAH/BSO on April 3. I did pre=op at hospital after final appointment with Dr. I was told to eat light the day before surgery. nothing after midnight. No bowel prep. At hospital they did blood work and urine test. Also chest x-ray. Didn't do EKG because I had a release from having stress and echo 2 weeks ago. I think I should have asked more questions, but by the time they went over what was going to be done all the questions on the checklist from this site had been answered. I didn't ask about pain meds after surgery but will find out the day of surgery. As long as I get something I don't care what it is. LOL

Hi honeys.I have to have a TVH and A&p repair.Last night after the dr did my pelvic exam my lower back hurt so bad.Not sure why.Maybe it because she was feeling around to make sure exactly what she needed to do.I am so happy I don't have to do any bowel prep.I wasn't looking forward to that.Hang in there.Let me know how your surgery goes...

I learned something today about the bowel prep-the nurse explained to why Dr. request we do the bowel prep. She said that when they do a hysterectomy, things get moved around (we all knew that), but because the intestines get moved around, it sort of goes into shock and is 'paralyzed'. It takes a bit for the bowels to start moving again, and the bowel prep helps to insure there is nothing "trapped" in there that could potentially cause problems later.

It makes me feel better to know WHY I have to drink that nasty stuff.

Hugs. T

Tamque, I didn't know that and didn't think to ask. I learned something new today. Thank you. I also have to do that prep.
