Acrylic Nails

Hello to all, this is my first posting as I have just been booked for a TVH in May. Can anyone tell me if I have to have my acrylic nails removed prior to surgery. I know that you are not to wear nail polish, so I thought that the false nails might also have to go. Anwers to this would be appreciated.

I took mine off just in case, but my friend said as long as the polish was not colored her doctor let her leave hers on. I know it's because they need to see the color of your nails to make sure you are getting enough oxygen. I decided that the acrylic was to thick on mine even without polish so I took them off by myself. Don't recommend that one! It took forever! But I did take them off for fear of not wanting to be more brain damaged than I already am! LOL!

Neither my doctor, hospital or preop appointment said anything to me about false nails.

I have french tip gel nails. I did leave them on for surgery and had no problems. I had a pedicure a few days before surgery with polish and no problems there either.

I asked the nurse who did my pre op at Hospital, I have solar nails also, and she said NOT an issue as long as they can see your nail bed. I wanted to do color on my toes, but not sure if they will allow that...
