how do you know if you have a blood clot?

Diane,

My leg had been bothering me; it felt "stiff" for lack of a better word then it was swollen. If yours is swollen definitely get to an ER quick. I survived a blood clot in my leg and then it traveled to my lungs. I'm lucky to be alive!

how do you know if you have a blood clot?

Hi,

I had blood clot in my leg about a year and a half ago. In my case, it was a severe pain in the middle of my calf, which wouldn't go away...kinda like there was a knot in a muscle and it kept tightening. It was excruciating to walk on. As I recall, some other symptoms include redness and swelling. Check-out the following info:

Good luck!

how do you know if you have a blood clot?

I have been concerned about a clot in my right leg for a few days and finally when going to get my dressing changed I brought it up (again). Fortunately for me the nurse took me seriously and has acted on my concerns and I had to wait for the doctor to do his rounds and see him. Cut a long story short I am on twice daily shots (can't remember what of but the same as when I was in hospital) and I have finally got some compression stockings. (Nurse could not believe I wasn't given any) I am to have a doppler scan in the morning to rule out or confirm a clot.

To answer the question of how I knew... I have lived on the recliner due to not being able to move around much and the back of my right calf began to hurt. I Suspect it is where it hits the recliner when it is up but I am preferring to err on the side of caution. When I walk it feels like a bruised calf. I am lucky to be in a small country town and emergency section in hospital is very accessible and almost always. Will update when I have results of doppler.... I am hoping it is a false alarm.
