restless leg syndrome
No, I've had mine all my life, or at least since I was a very young child. I remember at night and my mom coming in to rub my legs.
As an aside, I've seen calcium recommended for this, but I'm a voracious milk drinker, and that's never helped me.
Since I"m not exactly sure what causes it, though from the solutions I would guess some sort of vitamin or mineral deficiency, I don't know whether the surgery could cause it or not.

restless leg syndrome
Hi
I had restless leg syndrome before and after hysterectomy. I read severe iron depletion can be a causative factor...............also alcohol and caffeine. Since reducing caffeine over a year ago ( 10 months before op) it had been much better, despite being severely anaemic, but since hysterectomy have had it back but not until 5ish in the morning so have been able to catch some sleep. It seems odd that it should return.............by the way my blood results show haemoglobin is now good in the blood..................though I suppose it's possible that iron reserves are not yet at full capacity. How's your haemoglobin levels.........................is this a possible cause?

restless leg syndrome
My iron levels were low before my op but not drastic, i was off work for 3 mths to recover from my hysterectomy.
In the uk they give you 3mths of work and didnt have it at home till i went back, the reslessness started, at first i thought it was my body getting used to it but i still have it. I take omega 3 fish oils for joints, evening primrose and vit B. Iv had blood tests 3 wks ago and my oestrogen levels were 200, should be 300. They increased my patch dose but hasnt made any difference,- i will try and cut dwn on caffiene-that is my only vice, i dont really drink - mind you im having a bottle of red wine tonight though.
Mary- i am going to reduce mycaffiene from tomorrowand see what happens.
Im desperate to take any advice and tips as much as possible.
Many thanks for all your help
best wishes

restless leg syndrome
Hi Sunshine!
Nearly forgot the best tip for curing restless legs when it's ongoing rather than preventing it from starting! It's SEX! My theory was that it was relaxing for mind and body, or, more practically, it 'moved' your body in a 'tone reducing' way around the pelvis....................I'm a physio therapist and I think in these terms! Anyway, it worked to allow me to go to sleep................or in the night when I was walking up DH by constant wriggling. Just another thought! Have fun and hope you get some rest!
