Rectocele Repair;What to expect

I am having the rectocele repair on Tuesday 11th....During my post op, the dr told me that there is possible feelings of pressure on the abdomen after this repair.....I am not feeling good about any of this..I feel that there are too many unknowns for me right now.....

What should I expect (generally speaking of course) after a rectocele repair and lap?

I know constipation will be an issue, does anyone ever drink prune juice (diluted) to help with this? I can't think of anything that helps me in this area....tried M of M, it seems like that is a nothing or all kind of laxative for me......

thanks for any help...bettyj

Rectocele Repair;What to expect

Drink plenty of water, Betty, eat your 5 pieces of fruit/veg, wholemeal bread and walk about as much as you are able to/advised to. This helped prevent constipation in my case, but others on these boards have many other suggestions too.

I had a rectocele repair 6+ weeks ago and all has gone very well, although it was very uncomfortable to sit for a while and is not yet back to what I would call 'normal' even though I have officially 'healed'.

Mine was repaired vaginally, so I am not sure what he means about the abdominal pressure. Maybe it is the pulling from the front of the pelvic floor from where it has all been tightened from the back?

Good luck!

Rectocele Repair;What to expect

Hi Scriv, thanks for the post.....the dr said the pressure is sometimes felt in the abdomen, I too, am having it vaginally, so not sure what she meant, if I wake up with no pressure, then great....I think she was trying to prepare me for the worse case...however, can anyone really be prepared for this??? I have no idea how .....

anyone else who would like to tell of their experiences, I would like to hear.....thanks all...bettyj.....
