Had Pre-op yesterday

I had my pre-op yesterday. I went to my doc's office first, and asked my 22 questions. She didn't seem to appreciate that I had so many questions, but she answered them anyway. After she did a pelvic, she changed my type of surgery from tvh to tah. I will keep my ovaries if they are ok.

I actually feel better about the tah, since I think that's the only way they can tell if they got all the endo.

Then it was off to the hospital for my pre-op there.
That trip started out pretty bad, since they didn't know that I was coming and didn't have any orders from my doctor, but after waiting a couple of hours, everything was faxed and I was giving my blood donation, getting my picture taken (x-ray), and letting a new tech guy get some experience with the EKG machine.

My stay at the castle is on the 18th. Surgery is at 7:15 am, and I am to be there at 6. Nothing after midnite before. And I'm to take 1/2 of my insulin the nite before. I'm to bring my meds with me, in case the hospital doesn't have them all. My other insulin is pretty new, so they probably don't have it, the nurse wasn't sure.

NO at home prep will be necessary, no fleet, no shave, nada...

I talked with my mom tonite, she had her tah bso over a decade ago, back when they kept you at the castle for a week, and she said the worst was the pain from the gas that builds up. She said if she could do it over again, she would take gas-x with her, so I will.

The worst thing for me, right now, is figuring out the logistics of transportation. I have transport to the hospital and home, but my husband does not have transport on the other days. We don't own a working vehicle and can't afford the gas to pay someone on those days. DHHR is picking up the tab for me to come and go. He can't just come with me and stay, since we have a rather large pet family at home. I have three dogs, three cats, and five 2 week old kitties, and two hamsters. All indoor! Imagine the mess after a couple days of no one home

My mom and my daughter will visit on surgery day. But my daughter is in college in another town, and my mom will have to work the rest of the week.

Anyhoo! I passed everything. I have a heart, have blood, and I didn't even have to smile for my picture. LOL!

Now, I just have to cook and clean and shop.

Had Pre-op yesterday

I'm happy that you passed all your pre op Mine was a long day too, a lot of waiting and questions. I also didn't have to do a bowel prep at home but got an enema at the hospital the morning of my surgery.

it sounds like you have everything arranged - I understand about the pets, we have a bunch but not as many as you.

Don't forget to tell the nurses aboutthe Gas-x if you take it with you, they need to be aware of everything that you may take.

Best wishes.
