Treatment Postponed

Hello to All, I was supposed to have a LEEP procedure on April 7,but it had to be changed due to the doctor having an emergency. Now the date is April 28,and I am happy to report that my doctor said if this does not take,I can opt for a cone procedure or a hysterectomy.Since I will be having what is called a "top hat" LEEP,which will remove a deeper portion of the cervical canal,if problem's still persist after that he will not do a second LEEP and will let me decide on the next course of action. This is good new's to me because I have CIN(III) and sought a second opinion to be sure I was getting the best treatment I could. So now the wait is on again!

s spirit maiden.....

Waiting is the pits! But, you sound like you have a great attitude and that you have a good relationship with your doc.

I will be thinking and for you on the 28th that all goes well. Let us know how things went when you are up to it....

The waiting is always the worst.
Next comes the decision making.
My hope is that you are under the care of an oncologist/gynecologist.
Have a wonderful holiday.

Hi there,
yep, the infernal waiting. It IS the pits!

I'm glad you sought a second opinion, and I too hope you are seeing a gyn/oncologist since there is CINIII going on there. They are the experts when it comes to dealing with even a possibility of gynecological cancers.

Hang in there. The 28th isnt' THAT far away...time is flying! I hope it passes quickly for you. Soon, you will have some answers.
xoxo

Hi,Thank's so much for your replies.I'm going to be seeing a regular gyn for my procedure, but there are gyn/oncologist's in the same area.My gyn said if thing's did not turn out well I would have a consultation right away with one of the gyn/onc and decide on further treatment,so here I go.I will keep everyone posted, and look forward to chatting again!!

So you are not going to have an onc/gyn perform the surgery? Your regular obgyn is going to do the surgery, close you up, and IF something turns out will then refer you to a specialist?
Do not get mad but why not skip the obgyn and go straight for the specialist who knows exactly what to look for and how to handle the situation.
Obgyn's are wonderful for delivering babies but not for possible gynecological problems.
Just some more food for thought.

Hi,The procedure I'm having is a very invasive LEEP,which will be done in the gyn office. This is done with a hot wire tool which will slice off the front of my cervix and then a deep pass will be made into the cervical canal to remove a large cone of tissue. And then an ECC will be done after that to see if there is any abnormal tissue left.I would rather have had a more invasive cone biopsy done, but it seem's like alot of doctor's want you to start with this step first. If the margin's do not come back clear or the ECC is still positive then I will meet with an gyn/onc.The regular gyn is not going to treat me any further than that,so I feel ok with this first step,I think.I know that I will probably end up having to take further step's,I guess I'm sort of baby stepping into all of this. The good thing is the gyn/onc is close by so I can just transfer right over.Thank you so much for your concern,it make's me feel more confident that I am making good decision's to get the best care.I will let you know how thing's go,this is a wonderful site and I feel lucky to have found it!! I look forward to chatting again soon.Take care.

Spiritmaiden - I had the cone with the ob/gyn; when the cancer was more extensive than he had thought/hoped (I had had a clean pap 8 months prior), he referred me immediately to a gyn/onc for further treatment. You're lucky there is a gyn/onc around your area; I had to travel six-seven hours to see one. Good luck with your treatment! Hope the margins are clean!
