Can I color my hair?

I know this may sound stange but I was wondering if it is ok to color my hair. It is amazing how quick the grey shows up especially when I am stressed. I figured a good hair coloring would help but is it ok to rinse it off in the shower because of the incision. Thanks

Be sure to mention to your hairdresser that you recently had surgery and if you are on any medication.

The anesthitic from the surgery and any medication that you are on can affect the chemical balance of coloring your hair.

My hairdresser will not color or perm hair for a minimum of two weeks after surgery for this purpose.

Can I color my hair?

Hi eClark:

I colored my hair last week ... I was 5 weeks post-op. I rinsed it out in the kitchen sink ... by then it didn't hurt to bend over like that.

I would think that it wouldn't be good to rinse in shower, in case any does get into the incision.

100792:

I think she was talking about doing it at home, since she asked about rinsing in the shower.

Can I color my hair?

Three different colors, my kids would love it Yes I was talking about doing it myself. Maybe I will deal with the grey a little bit longer. I think I am about the only one who really notices it right now anyhow. It does pick me up when I color it but I don't think I want any more problems right now.

hair color

My stepdaughter just colored and highlighted my hair today. I needed to cover the grays for a pick-me-up. It came out great. I'm happy I did it. Hope yours came out ok.

Can I color my hair?

I found a hairdresser that would use organic henna for my hair coloring (having used permanent and semi-permanent color for almost 25 years)

I waited about two months after my surgery. Boy did the greys look HORRID. My husband said I looked very old. My hairdresser and doctor both told me that the anesthesia does really wierd stuff to your hair, skin, body and to make sure it's all out of your system. While I realized that it didn't take two months, I really wanted to make sure that when I did color it, it would stay that way for at least 8 weeks.

The henna picked up the grey as auburn/red (my "natural" highlights). Really looked slick once it was complete.
