Adenomyosis patient with question about adhesions
Hi Sisters! I was just wondering how common is it that when you have adenomyosis that you end up with adhesions elsewhere also? Does it usually stay in uterus? I am worried they may find more problems during procedure.

Adenomyosis patient with question about adhesions
Hi there!
I didn't have my surgery for the same issues as you, so I don't have any experience to share...but until members come along to reply, I suggest you use the Search mechanism which is located in the lavender bar near the top right of the page. You could type in "adenomyosis and adhesions" for example, to give you links to past theads in which these topics are discussed.
Best wishes for a successful surgery and uneventful recovery!
s to you,

Adenomyosis patient with question about adhesions
I had extensive adeno with cysts and fibroids. I also had a major bladder/uterus adhesion. The bladder was stuck to the uterus around the area of the incision from a prior c-section. I did not have adeno type problems way back then, so I don't think the adhesions are related to it.
I think adenomyosis is only in the uterus. I think endometriosis is what to look out for elsewhere.

Adenomyosis patient with question about adhesions
My doc says its totally confined to the uterus if its true adeno. Thats what I have. Endo seems to occur earlier with pain, adeno tends to show up later closer to your 40's with sudden increase in cramping and bleeding. I am having a TVH, REALLY WANTED a LSH, but was told by a LSH specialist that adeno can even be implanted in the cervix and could cause potential problems in the future.

Adenomyosis patient with question about adhesions
We didn't know that I had adeno. until my hyst. It was only in 2 spots and was minor. I did have ALOT of adhesions, but I also had endo. everywhere and a history of 5 previous abdominal surgeries which will make the chances of adhesions greater. Also, I'm just one of those people that will develope a nasty scar from the slightest little injury anyway so I guess that's just my darn luck. Here I am just a little over 1 yr out from my hyst. and 3 weeks ago I had emergency surgery for scar tissue that was strangling my small intestine in 3 places. I STRESS the fact that this is just MY experience due to my medical history and by no means does it mean that anyone else will go through the problems that I have had.
I wish you all the best for an easy surgery and even easier recovery!

no worries
adenomyosis is found strictly in the uterus ,no where else.....once the uterus is removed ,adeno is history it`s it`s evil cousin ENOMETREOSIS that can be found outside the uterus and can grow back again and again........best of luck to you as you prepare for your surgery Blessings,Renee
