Seprafilm Adhesion Barrier Anyone?

Went to my urogyn complaining of several issues the other day. I am retaining quite a bit of urine for one thing...we discussed that and he is cutting my bladder sling for the second time. #2 issue is pain in left lower quadrant which I was hoping we could just attribute to urinary retention. Long story short he thinks I have ovarian remnant syndrome and wants to go in abdominally to get it out and lyse adhesions. Then he said he would use Seprafilm adhesion barrier. Question? Anyone had this used and what did you think?

I know this isn't the reply you were looking for, but I just wanted to tell you that I've never heard of this before, and granted I've not yet had the pleasure of a bladder sling but I might be going down that road (I've already had my hyst) - but anyway, my point is that your situation sounds somewhat similar to mine, and I'm finally going to the very knowledgeable staff of the Mayo Clinic to their Urogyn dept. and I will ask about this! What a brilliant idea? Anywhere I learn more about it so I'm prepared for my dr. appt? ( its not 'til may 11)
Thanks! And I hope you find the answers you're looking for! These gals have been through it all, so I'm sure someone will be along to help. Thanks for bringing this up!

(((Sherry))) you might want to take a look at this thread over in the Ovaries Only forum:

This new gel has shown really good results... I'd ask the DR about whether the Separafilm or Oxiplex/AP gel would be better in your situation.

Have you gotten a second opinion about both parts of this procedure, and whether it's best to do them together? No opinion here, just wanted to make sure you're dotting all you i's and crossing all your t's

Seprafilm Adhesion Barrier Anyone?

Hey Linda..I am actually not sure I will even do the abdominal surgery yet. I am waiting for my Urogyn to call me with results of a path report from '02 when bilateral tubes/ovaries were supposedly removed..however when the urogyn went in to do my vaginal vault prolapse sx in '05 he found the left fallopian tube..he did not see the left ovary at that time because there were so many adhesions, but it is his belief that either all or a remnant of the ovary remains. He was out of the office the end of last week, but I'm sure I will be getting a call from them tommorrow. I am already scheduled for the vaginal sling release on this coming Fri. It has to be done..I am retaining way too much. And I am just not ready for an abdominal sx again at this point. If I do this at all it will not be until after Christmas..too many plans until then plus I am just not sure I even care about doing it. On the fence..have pain, but may try to endure.
Thanks for all replies everyone.
