Abdominal Hysterectomy & Bladder Sling?

I am out almost 5 weeks since my surgery and I have a strange pulling sensation very low that I highly suspect is related to the sling surgery. I continue to have problems with my bladder emptying completely. I have been back to the urologist 4 times since they removed the catheter they sent me home with and everytime when they catherize me after I have emptied my bladder, they get anywhere from 120cc to 250 cc of urine. They keep telling me there is still swelling and the nerves to the bladder have still not recovered completely from the complete hysterectomy and the bladder sling.

Any idea what this pulling sensation may be?

Janet

Abdominal Hysterectomy & Bladder Sling?

Hi Janet
I had a sling too but I can't say if I experienced what I would have called a pulling sensation. I did find that it took a long time to heal. At 5 wks I was still feeling a lot of discomfort, but mine was more of what I called a burning sensation. When I went in for my checkup they also found that I wasn't completely emptying my bladder. I had to self cath for about a week until it got down to where it was just a very small amount.
If your dr is saying it could still be the healing process I would go with that and give this some more time. You don't want to mess with the sling if you don't have to and with a little more time it might clear up by itself.
Keep us posted about how this goes for you. I hope in a short time the problem will resolve itself for you.
's, Rita

Abdominal Hysterectomy & Bladder Sling?

Hi Janet,
I had a bladder sling as well with my hyst. I guess I can't say I've felt the pulling sensation, but completely emptying the bladder takes a little more time for me. But only being 4 weeks and 3 days out, I'm just guessing it's still from swelling. Even the way it is now, it's still an improvement from what it was before surgery.
