Burning sensation lower left abdomen

I am two weeks post op and have developed a burning sensation just under the surface of my skin (at least that is what it feels like) in the lower abdomen just to the left of center. I have had abdominal surgeries and two c-sections but I don't recall a pain/sensation similar to this. Sitting upright and a little hunched over seems to help. Leaning back and often walking seem to irritate the sensation.

Anyone else have anything similar to this? Should I be concerned? I have had it for two days now and while my husband wants me to call the doctor right away, I am leaning towards a more wait and see attitude.

Thoughts?

Burning sensation lower left abdomen

I've had the left side pain all along - it comes and goes for me, and is slowly getting better.

About a week ago, there was a discussion on where the pain was centered for most people. You guessed it: left side.

My doc suggested that it's because the left side is where our bowels have a "kink". Apparently gas and waste can get trapped there if everything has been slowed down by things like muscle relaxants, causing pain of varying degrees. He put me on something to help digest my food and the pain is significantly less.

Burning sensation lower left abdomen

There was a spot about the size of a half dollar on my lowr rt side that felt like a lighter was being held to it when I moved a certain way. I felt like crying when it happened. I talked to my doctor about it at my 2 week check and she explained that a lot of patients feel it. She said that alot of nerves are severed during surgery and it is most likely those nerves healing and that it would get better over time. I am 3 weeks post op now and I haven't had that feeling now for 2 days. I hope this helps! Hope you are feeling better! God Bless

Burning sensation lower left abdomen

I had the burning sensation on my left side at about this same stage of recovery. It was worse when I would first get up from sitting or lying down and would radiate all the way down into my pubic area. There were a few times it would nearly bring tears. My doc said this is a normal sign of healing. Fortunately, it didn't last long. If this starts getting worse, you might give your doc a call just to be on the safe side.

i Had my post op 3 weeks yesterday. I asked my doctor about the buring(same place) and she said it was probably the nerves healing. Man does it hurt. I've had it for about a week now and I'm sick of it.

Burning sensation lower left abdomen

I'm at four weeks and have the same burning sensation. Mine is on the left hand side. It began about the 3rd week. I've also had numbness in my right leg and foot. I called my doctor to ask about the numbness. His nurse told me it couldn't be the surgery, because she had had a hysterctomy and never had any numbness. What a response! After insisting I get the Doctor's opinion...he said it was absolutely not caused by the surgery...(ya right!) and told me to go to an ER or contact my family doctor (needless to say I'm looking for a new gyn.)

The family doc said both the burning and numbness were probably caused by the surgery nerve trama. To be on the safe side he had me checked for blood clots and thankfully all was clear!

Burning sensation lower left abdomen

Hi! I had the same thing last week (when I was about 2 weeks out) and my doctor said that it could be bowel or nerves as stated above, she also said that it could be the incision healing on the inside (I had LAVH). I thought that it was my ovary and was concerned enough to go in the day before my 2 week check up. I felt much better after seeing her and I rarely get that pain anymore.

Good luck to you!

I am having the same thing too. I still have a lot of numbness along my incision line, but feeling a lot of discomfort there. It was starting to get better, but I just had my penrose drain pulled today and it is back. I have not talked to the dr, so I was glad to see that all of you had the same pain! Thanks, this is a great site
