Has anyone had an endometrial ablation?
Was it successful and how long did it give relief before a hysterectomy was necessary? Anyone have time to answer me today?? I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow and need all the information I can get.

more info

Hi,
I can't help you directly. Have you tried going to the top of the screen and using the search feature. Type in endometrial ablation or just ablation, I bet you'll find some ladies with experience.
Also hysterectomy alternatives message board might also be helpful. Good luck in your quest and with the decisions ahead. This site has helped me a lot! Jan

I had 2 ablations

Hi Gail, I had two endometrial ablations prior to my hysterectomy - in June and December 2000. Unfortunately, they were both failures.

The first ablation was a balloon procedure and the second was a rollerball ablation and endometrial resection.

Some women get good results with ablations, and I never regretted trying them before deciding to have a hysterectomy. If your symptoms can be eased by a less invasive surgery, it is worth a try, in my opinion.
I did not have a diagnosis prior to my hyst, because the doctors did not know what my problem was except for the fact that I had been bleeding non-stop for 11 months. Only after my uterus was biopsied, was a tiny fibroid deep within the uterine wall found. This was what had caused all that bleeding.

There is a wonderful endometrial ablation support group on the net. I would suggest you have a look at it. The url is http://pub10.ezboard.com/bendometrialablationboard.

Let me know what you decide.

endometrial ablation anyone??

Hi Gail , I hada ablation four years ago. Results were great for my bleeding but not for pain. I am finally scheduled for a TLH on June 7th. Cant wait. My pain is so bad from endo, fibroids and adno that doc put me on Toradol until a week before my surgery so I can function.Ablation could buy you some time but wont fix pain.
