Clear liquid diet suggestions??

The best thing to do is call your doctor's office to be certain exactly what is/isn't allowed. For example, coffee may be allowed, but no cream or milk. Eating softened crackers in soup or eating soup that is strained may not be on your doctor's list of 'approved 'clear' liquids. Rather than risk postponing your surgery, please call your doctor and the nurse should be able to help you.

Clear liquid diet suggestions??

I wish you luck on the prep. my instruction are to eat lightly and do an enema. last year i did two colonoscopys. my first one i was not clean so i had to repeat with an extended prep. The worst thought is making my 12 year old son do this (4 times in the last 2 yrs) He has Ulcerative Colitis. He knows the drill now, but that does not make it any easer.

Clear liquid diet suggestions??

Thank you all again....fortunately I have NO appetite at all - BIG surprise to me, but I guess my nerves have gotten the best of me. I did go to the grocery store this morning & got some bouilion cubes for broth (no Miso at my store), popsicles, gatorade & ginger-ale, of course there's water & my jello also. So far I'm ok. Trying to stay busy as I can & then at 6:00pm I drink the nasty potion so that I can start running to the loo. I have to get up at 4:00 am to be to the castle by 6:00 am - surgery is at 8:00 am. Thanks again to all of you. You've been more help than you'll ever know. Hugs...

Clear liquid diet suggestions??

Ah, I still remember that day.... my usual breakfast, very light lunch, 12 noon clear liquids only. 2 pm fleet junk and suppository 8 pm. I was also instructed to drink 64 oz of Gatorade or Snapple juice that evening for dehydration. I'll tell you, it was a lot easier than I thought, that was a lot to drink and hind sight it should have been more. They almost put the catheter back in because I didn't void enough fluid.

My only discomfort after surgery was the rawness of the rectal area from the night before. I used a warm water w/soap in a water bottle but not until 10 pm before it was too sore, someone suggested to me after maybe a baby wipe.

Good Luck and a speedy recovery

Oh honey, I feel so sorry for you. I had to do that nasty stuff, too. You probably wont feel like eating the day before surgery, I didn't. I was to nervous and busy going to the bathroom so I wasnt very hungry. GOOD LUCK!!!
