Can anyone tell me if they have had success - surgery or otherwise and what the outcome of PNE might be. Effie

Pudendal Nerve Entrapment

I haven't had to deal with nerve entrapment, but have been diagnosed with nerve damage. I have had parts of the damaged nerves removed, but continue to have problems.

You can find some information on PNE in our resources section HysterSister Resources

PNE Success

Dear Effie,
I was diagnosed with PNE on 3/13/06. I went to Houston and had the motor latency test and injection. I had instant, 100% pain relief. I had suffered for 4 long years. I actually deduced that I had PNE from this site. Thanks for a sister who suggested that I research PNE. To date, I have not had the pain return. I can feel a slight tug when I am in the car but nothing to the degree that it was. If, and I hope and pray NOT, it returns I would not hesitate to have the injections. Now, as far as the surgery...that is another story. I have just had major (non-pelvic related) surgery and I would not want to go through anesthesia, PAIN, etc. Just depends on how bad the sitting pain got. If you need specific information about my surgery, doctor, etc. just pm me. I want to help anyone who suffers with PNE...most doctors, including urogyns do not understand it. Some go as far as to say it does not exist. I'm so thankful for my outcome. The magic word for PNE is "sitting" pain-hurts to sit, drive, etc. I described it to dozens of doctors as "a tight rubber-band stretched across my pelvic region".

Pudendal Nerve Entrapment

Pain is mainly sitting, happened after hyst. in 12/04. Pain when I need to go to bathroom, bm, and pain down leg and outer thigh; mainly just the left side. I'm not sure I don't have enteroclele or vaginal prolapse, but I do know my small bowel is herniated into the fascia and rectum muscle. I have been to many doctors from Texas to Germany.

Pudendal Nerve Entrapment

That is exactly the pain I have, after a bm, especially
a good one, I am in awful pain the rest of the day. If I
don't have a bm, I have minimal pain. Some days, but
not all days, I have pain after I urinate, too. But when
my bowel is empty, that is when I have the most pain.
I am thinking that there is adhesions from the cuff to
the bladder and bowel and when there is a repositioning
in there it is pulling on the cuff and maybe a trapped
nerve. Sometimes after I have eaten a couple of meals,
by night, I get some relief. Sitting is also painful.
Lying down at night, I do get relief, but sometimes the
pain is so out of control, it takes a long time after I go
to bed to calm down. I have had this for 5 years and
have about given up on the medical field, and said I
would not have another surgery, but I have been on
pain meds for a long time and they are not helping that
much any more, so I am about desperate to do something, I am just afraid that they will screw up
something else, like my bladder. If you would like to
talk further, feel free to PM me.

Pudendal Nerve Entrapment

Sue, I have been posting now for about 2 yrs with this
condition, and I have seen some women with very
similar symptoms, but you are the first one to have
the exact symptoms, like pain after bms and urinating.
I had an enterocele repair 2 yrs ago and that did correct
that problem with the feeling of something stuck up my
vagina, but the pain is still there and it is worse based
on how extreme the bm, is if I empty completely I can't
get relief no matter how much pain meds I take. I had
2 surgeries before they found the enterocele, so I haven't
wanted to have another, but I am tempted to let someone do an exploratory, but finding someone who
have confidence is the problem. Any suggestions,
anyone. Susan

Pudendal Nerve Entrapment

Hi all,
I have the nearly the same problem, mine is when the bowel is full before a bm, a bm gives me relief. I have had a 5 surgeries , botched hyst started the cycle - adhesions surgery 2 in Germany - exploratory to remove sutures that were still there over 13 months later that gave me a horrible painful rash that has lessen, but not gone. Just over a week ago told I had PNE, had asked numerous times if thats what I have and I was told no several times by several people. I am seeing a uro gyn. - and going for a nerve block on Monday. Pray for me. Much much more
Good Luck
