Good News & Sorta Bad News

Hi all. This week has been good and bad. Most recent CA125 came back at 5.3, yeah!!!!!!

My TAH/BSO for OVCA Stage IIC was done on 11/30/04 and several months after I deleoped an incisional hernia and the top of the hyst incision near my belly button and had surgery to repair it on 09/07/05, WELL, the hernia is back again and I will need to have surgery again to repair it. It will MOT be done laproscopically as it the norm, and the first repair was NOt donr this way either. There we go slicing my tummy open again, argggggggggggggggg. Last time they did not use the mesh, this time they will. I am thrilled that this is only the hernia site weakening again and it is NOT cancer but I just dont want to have surgery again. that will make 3 surgies in almost 2 years. I still need to schedule it but I am really upset I need to do this. Anyway, I will keep ypu all posted. Thanks.

awww, sorry about the hernia repair. MORE surgery surely is not something to look forward to. I hope the mesh puts an end to this once and for all!

Congrats on the great ca-125! That's such awesome news. May it be forever low!

Dear Karin,

I'm SO sorry to hear that you have to have another surgery.

As for the method of surgery, have you gotten more than one opinion? Possibly someone else could do it laparoscopically.

Here's to a speedy recovery!

Although the surgery is not something you were planning on, the ca125 number certainly deserves a big A+.
Hope all goes well.

I know the surgery is no picnic but it's good to get it done and I hope that is the last surgery you ever need! As to your CA125, let it be noted that I just turned emerald green with envy!

Fantastic CA125! Not good news about more surgery, I sure hope the mesh will prevent another problem. In the meantime, celebrate that great CA number. Good luck with the surgery.

How frustrating about the hernia repair! Ask for a money-back guarantee this time

Seriously, I hope you breeze through this surgery (third time's the charm).

I have a small hernia, but so far my gyn onc says I don't need surgery, but it may only be a matter of time.

Thanks everyone!! The first repair was done by my gyn/onc and he also used it as an opportunity to take a second look. This time when I told him I thought the hernia had come back he said he di feel something but didnt feel a tear and didnt think it was a hernia but wanted me to see a specialist. The specialist said it is not urgent to get it done but with time it will get worse.

What this has tought me is that I DO know my body even better than my gyn/onc who in my eyes is a "God". I was sure he would think I was being a hypocondreact (sp?) But knowing my body is one thing I have learned through this cancer journey.

Thamks agin for all the well wishes
