I was out on my daily walk this morning in the beautiful sunshine, and was thinking about all those sisters who are having troubles with their recovery, predominantly walking, when I felt a very small stone in my shoe. Everytime I put my right foot down I felt the small stone and while it didn't hurt, I certainly knew it was there!

That's when the idea struck me!

All of you who find walking painful or uncomfortable...put a small stone in your shoe! It takes you rmind off your belly pain as you focus totally on the annoying stone in your shoe instead

Yes, I am joking...just wanted to inject a little humor into our day

Laughter IS the best medicine!! Prior to my hyst., I had never heard the medical term "oopherectomy" used before. In the recovery room, with as much pain as I was in, I told my dh "they took my oophers out". He had NO idea what I was talking about, but when the nurses finally figured out that I was trying to be funny, they cracked up.

When all else fails, watch the comedy channel. Just hold a pillow over your belly because laughing can hurt!!

after surgery they came in and asked me how I was doing. I paused for a moment and said me and my little buddy (morphine drip) were getting along just fine. My daughters will never let me live this down.

You girls are funny! I had my oophers out too! When I was in the recovery room, I was really hurting. My husband tried to put the morhine button in my hand and show me how to use it. He said I kept holding his thumb and pushing it, trying to get morhine! Too silly Carolyn

LOL, Carolyn. What a cute story. I would think holding your DH's thumb would be almost as good as morphine. Thanks for the story. Cath

Just before I went into the OR the nurses kept telling me when it was done I'd feel like a new woman. Right out of recovery I looked at my DH and said "I think I liked the feeling of the old woman better, this new one *****". he laughed hysterically then had to tell the nurses and dr. when they came in to see me. I also wanted to bring the lovely hospital gown home to play doc but DH said no. Nurse said it was ok just sneak it out. Some days, like today are hard to find anything funny, just a few minutes ago I was feeling so down but then found this thread and realized laughter is good.
