Weight.. gain or loss?

I hear a lot about weight gain after a hyst. What about weightloss? I'm big enough now and I'm hoping to go the other way. I feel that maybe this (mass on my ovary) is why I'm having trouble losing weight. I'm hoping to focus on losing weight and getting healthy after all this mess is over.

Add bowel prep plus lack of appetite from pain, etc. and you probably get some initial weight loss. Factor in the inactivity over several weeks, and it probably evens out. I think this is a good opportunity to evaluate total lifestyle habits and start a-new.

I have some trouble with weight after my hysterctomy, and its been a roller coaster ride, been 3 yrs this August since I had it.......finally got my hormoones somewhat leveled........but I still have weight issue, can't seem to keep it off, I even work out.............anyone have any ideas???? or help

In August of 2004 my best friend went thrgouh this same thing and she was 19 goin on 20 at the time she lived wiht me durnign the recoverytime and such, and she was pretty big b4 the surgury , and after the surgury wiht in 6 weeks she shedded off so much weight I mean she went from the duckling to the swan! it was crazy! I was amazed and very happy for her and so she changed her eating habbits and started to extersize 3 times a week adn to this day she still looks fit! she is a almost 6foot tall but went from 210 pounds and now she is 175 / 165 pounds ( big boned as well) she had a huge mas the size of an ostrage egg (sp?) on one of her overys. sorry for hte bad spelling, im typing blind with out my glassess .. oh she just had the mass, overy and the one tube removed then ...

Hi, right after my tah/bso I lost a few pounds. Mainly because of a lack of appetite and not being able to eat much at first either. Now, at almost 4 years post op , I'm about the same as before my hyst. I'm well within my "desirable" weight range. I do stay pretty busy and get lots of exercise.
