Bathing after rectocele repair?

I have been reading the boards and have come across several messages regarding NOT bathing until 6 weeks was up. I am at 2 weeks and my doctor said I still have quite a lot of swelling and advised bathing as much as twice a day if it helped relax me as she feels it will alleviate the swelling. Anybody else's doctor recommend this?

Bathing after rectocele repair?

Hi klbsister
My doctor recommended the same as yours. I just wasn't supposed to use any bubble bath or anything in the water. I took them twice a day for a while and they helped a lot. I was able to start that from the first day home.

Bathing after rectocele repair?

Same for me - I took sitz baths from beginning because I was constipated and then diareah and things were swollen and sore - the hot water helped - I still have discomfort in my rectal area and problems with BMs so most nights before bed I sit in bath - My doctor said ok. You should be ok. Good Luck.

Bathing after rectocele repair?

At 2 weeks, I was having a terrible amount of discomfort and upon examination, I was told that the entire area that was stiched was very irritated. The doc recommended taking as warm of a bath as I could stand without burning to soften the stitch line that had become so irritated and honestly, it did help to some degree with making me less uncomfortable. I was told to sit in it for 10 - 15 minutes, 2 times per day. God luck.
