My brother's death

My brother died Wednesday evening. He saw his goals through -- to see me through chemo and to see his newborn grandson born and hold him.

His wife, my other brother and I were with him when he passed. I am so glad he is out of pain, but I woke up yesterday for the first time in 49 years without having my brother Larry a phone call away.

Everyone is exhausted, but I am very very exhausted since I still have some of the tiredness from my chemo. Everyone keeps telling me to pace myself, not to get too tired. I did get some sleep last night with the help of Ativan, but today is 10 hours at the funeral home. He will be buried tomorrow.

Right before he died, I told him "Larry, Mom and Dad would be so proud of you, of the life you made. You were a good husband, a good father, a good brother , a good did good job and mom and dad are waiting to tell you." All my brother ever wanted to do in life was a good job. He died about a half hour after that.

Now, we just have to send him home. I hope I can hold up for the next couple days. I know my blood counts are probably low again, just by the way I feel.

I just wanted to thank all of you -- for helping me through chemo and radiation, and for helping me deal with my brother's illness at the same time. I don't know how I could have done it without you.

My brother's death

I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. But I'm so glad he got to see his grandson.

You will get through this. You have been through so much. And once you feel better, you can revel in being done with chemo.

I'll be thinking about you.
