Detrol for Incontinence

One reason I had the TAH was to get rid of a fibroid pressing on my bladder. I'm trying to evaluate if I'm better yet. Not taking the Detrol that I did before surgery, but I still am wearing pads. Anyone else faced this? Thanks.

Detrol for Incontinence

Hi MaryRose
I don't take Detrol anymore but I did for a while after my hyst because of spasms. Now, I use a vaginal estrogen cream that helps but yes, I still wear a mini pad. Mine has more to do with age. I try to remember to do kegals but I'm not very consistant. You are definately not alone!

Detrol for Incontinence

I didn't deal with incontinence, but because of my enlarged uterus and fibroids and tumor, I was urinating just around every hour for about 6 months. I did try Detrol for a brief time in hopes it would help, but it only gave me migraines so I had to stop. I was very hopeful that after surgery and I would once again become "normal", but it's 5 and a half months out and I'm still having to go about every hour - at least during the night - sometimes closer to 2 hours during the day. I do constantly have water at hand throughout the day, and therefore do drink alot, which might have something to do with it, but I am discouraged that the frequency has not abated in all this time. I've decided that once I'm done dealing with the cancer treatments, my next course of action is to consult with a urologist to see if there's anything that can be done to get my bladder back into shape.

You're still pretty new out of surgery so hopefully with a little more time and healing, you'll be able to ditch the Detrol. Good luck!
