How Long Did You Spot After Prolapse Surgery

I am nearly 5 weeks post op from my second prolapse repair. The first time I only had spotting for the first week or so and then had yellowy/green discharge for a few weeks from the dissolving sutures. I am still spotting pink from the cystocele repair but only after having a BM. I am still doing an awful lot of straining with BMs despite using everything the Drs have recommended. How long did you have spotting following your surgery?

Maybe 4-5 weeks, it's kindof a blur now. I had thin brownish drainage for a long while, now it is scant thin yellow. Carolyn

I spotted about the 3rd week I think, then again at about 5 weeks...then it became a yellowish/greenish discharge but no blood since.

I had a very light brownish (tea coloured) discharge till about week 5 or 6 and nothing since except one episode of pink after sex and lifting boxes about week 12.

How Long Did You Spot After Prolapse Surgery

I guess I'm just worried because I only bleed after a stressful BM and the bleeding doesn't come from the rectocele but from the cystocele. I'm thinking that with straining I am putting stress on the cystocele repair. I'm just hoping that I don't strain enough to blow those stitches like I did the last time.

Michelle,
Have you talked to your gyn about the straining problem? I went to PT for my rectum (the colo-rectal doc said I wasn't relaxing enough) and Iearned how to eat better and relax more - Maybe you need some help. Don't be afraid to ask. Hugs.

How Long Did You Spot After Prolapse Surgery

I have talked to every Dr I have seen since discharge about the straining I am still having. I have gone from using just Colace then told to add Milk of Mag at bedtime as suggested by the Uro/Gyn who performed the surgery. Then I was told to stop the Milk of Mag and drink half a bottle of Mag Citrate by one of the other Uro/Gyns and to use half a bottle anytime I feel that I am having trouble. Last visit I was told to stop the Mag Citrate and go back to Milk of Mag by a different Uro/Gyn. So I'm not really sure what I should be doing but I know that I go from abdominal cramping and loose stool that I still strain with, to more formed and still straining and bleeding after a stressful BM. I know that this will all straighten out in awhile because it did following the last surgery. Still very nervous that all this straining will lead to failure again!!
