New, Scared and Feeling Alone

Don't upset yourself so much. I don't know how old you are but my daughter had the vaginal removeal of her uterus last year, she is 35 and she cooks at a daycare center and she was back at work within the first week. Everyone heals different but it's usually not as long to recover as an abdonal incision. I begged them to do mine this way but I had 4 surgeries in one. Goog Luck SHB957

Hi Jamie

I can relate to what you are saying here. I told a few women at work about my hyst. Most were supportive but basically people are more concerned with their own lives. I am trying to gear up my own strength for the surgery...relying on the few people I know I can trust. Other than that, if you come here every day (I do!) you will have thousands of friends who really get it.

New, Scared and Feeling Alone

HI, i am from illinois also, my surgery date is June 15th. With not alot of support, only my best friend that went to the dr's with me the day we decieded to do the surgery. My husband just dosn't understand and doesn't think its that big of a deal since they are doing it vaginally.
I've had nonstop bleeding, no pain and I also work for a dr and he expects me back to work in a week, maybe we can help support each other, sometimes the more i read the more i get scared and just don't know what to expect. My doctor examined me my last visit and said my uterus was extra small, thats why I bleed sooooo much, it will be a easy and simple procedure, I'm not so sure and that I'll go home the next day after surgery, I hope he's right I've been going to this dr for 13 years I really trust him and hope i don't loose his trust. anyway good luck to you and keep in touch, I'm here if you need to hollar and anyone.

New, Scared and Feeling Alone

JamieStarr,
Hello & welcome. It seems to be pretty common to get very little if any support from anyone in our lives. Since I've told my friends I'm having a hyst, not one of them, no even my mother, has called to ask how I'm doing. I guess I should be thankful right now that I don't have a husband or boyfriend to withdraw from me during this time. I found out last night why my mom hasn't called. She had a doc appointment last week & her doc thinks she may have colon cancer. She didn't want me to worry about her. But when I asked her how it went & there was a long dead silence before "fine", I told her ok now I'm going to make up things that could be wrong so just tell me.

I'm so shocked at my friends' lack of support. They can call me whining for weeks about a speeding ticket or something else so minor but they could care less about me in my time of need. It is true, you will find out who your real friends are. You will make new friends here. Everyone is so supportive. I love it here. Just hang in there, we're here for you. HUGS!!!

New, Scared and Feeling Alone

HEy itstime...just wanted to let you know...apparently my friends have all taken a vacation as well. People I used to talk to everyday haven't called in weeks. MY DH is being very supportive so I consider myself extremely lucky...we have our little weird spots (cuz he probably just doesn't understand), but for the most part he just does what I ask. This site is my link to sanity.

Thanks so much!!

I want to thank everyone who responded. It was so great to see so many women out there, who actually can understand the emotions I am dealing with. It's a great comfort knowing that I can just log on to the computer, come to this site, and find the support I need!

New, Scared and Feeling Alone

Hi JamieStarr and the other LIW,
I agree with Bizet Woman that people don't think this is a big deal because it's so common. I suprised myself at how emotional I got over it. But then I put my energy into the preparation. I learned so much here...things I would never have learned in my doctor's office. Some of the stuff scared me, but it's better to be well informed and prepared.

My family was also a big disappointment, but I knew I could come here for the support I needed.

Good Luck,
Lori

New, Scared and Feeling Alone

I just had a TAH on the 19th of May. I also had Adenomyosis. I am still pretty sore but I will tell you that the uknown and waiting is the worst part. I could tell you not to worry but you will anyway as we all do.
I just want you to know that it was not as bad as I thought it would be.Honestly the waiting and wondering what it will be like is the worst part.
You have tons of understanding and support here.

Support

Even though my surgery won't be until after the summer, I somewhat can't wait to not be in this pain that I am in every day. I think any surgery no matter how small is a big deal. How are you doing so far? Hope all is going well, do you have your swelly belly pillow? Put your feet up and relax, have some nice soothing tea and be the princess that we all are.
