How do you accept Hyst?

Hi, I'm Chelle. New here.

Please, can anyone tell me, how do you accept your Hysterectomy, from an emotional standpoint?

I know my surgery is necessary, but if my husband tells me, one more time, that I will "feel better after the surgery", I think I might leave him.

Has anyone else felt this way?

How do you accept Hyst?

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES and YES.

Welcome sweetheart. I felt alot like you , and I still do sometimes. This is a wonderful place to come because no matter how caring and loving our families are, it is very very difficult for them to understand...especially the husbands. Idea...maybe he is not sure what else to say?

Browse through the site and check everything out. There are so many wonderful ladies that wil be able to help you out. I am still 3 weeks away from mine but i will be glad to answer any questions you may have about my experiences so far.
You didn't mention the reason for your hyst or what your situation is...but i gaurentee you will find some connections here.

I wish you all the best, hope to see you on the site, and please, know that you are not alone.

How do you accept Hyst?

Hi Chelle, I am so glad that I had mine. I don't know how old you are and that may make a difference on your emotional standpoint. I am 48, my children are grown and I do feel so much better since my hyst. Sex life has been fine since hyst. too. Your hubby may be trying to encourage you so don't be too hard on him. Why are you needing a hyst.?

You are not alone!

first off..welcome to your new home away from home!

As for your other questions..what you are feeling is very normal..as much as we love our DH, DBF, DD, DS DMIL, DM&D - NO ONE understands what you are going through unless they themselves are in the process or have gone through it themselves.

You will got through the stages of grief, you will question your decision umpteen times, and trust me when I say you will feel like screaming through the streets!!

This site is a great place to find support and understanding, new friends, and a wealth of information for whatever you are facing.

Welcome to the sisterhood and please, tell us what type of hyster, what lead up to it, and lean on us when you want to your DH!! I have a great story of God intervening and dropping a 33 oz FULL bottle of conditioner on my DH's toes when he was being a pill..

LOL Sweet Justice! See, we can laugh in the face of adversity...especially if it means a little pain for someone else for a change! (J/K)

How do you accept Hyst?

Thank you all so very much. I was in tears reading your posts, knowing that someone understands!!!!

I am 53, still cycling fairly regularly, but, my uterus is tipped and pressed up against my tail-bone, thus, preventing me from going to the bathroom. (Hope that is not too graphic.) And, the endometrial lining is thickened to the upper limits of normal, uterus is solid due to the thickened lining, and fibroids, and "immovable". Ovaries have reoccurring cysts.

I've had 3 previous surgeries, and my Gyne says, "No more". I have 4 auto-immune diseases and he says the risk of more surgery to correct things is just too great.

I just feel so sad. After two miscarriages, I carried my only son,(who is now almost 32) inside my womb, almost to full term, and I feel emotionally attached to it. That probably sounds pretty silly.

Hmmmm....I wonder if the Good Lord might intervene and drop a bottle of conditioner on my hubby's toes? I would really like to hear that story.

I know he means well, and I love him, but why doesn't he feel any emotional attachment? After all, it was OUR son I carried.

I'm not sure how to get through the next 3 weeks.

Chelle

Too graphic?? Oh honey! Wait until you read some of the posts on here!

It's definately not an easy thing to accept. I dealt with it by keeping myself busy preping for surgery. Then I just prayed, prayed for peace and understanding to accept what I was told, and trust to believe God had it all under control...and I"m happy to report He did! hang in there hon.

Too graphic? Not hardly, for this site. But that's a good thing. I want to hear the story too. Chelle53 we can be partners for the next three weeks. We're having surgery on the same day. Mine is a TAH. How do we get through this emotionally, I still don't know. And as far as husbands go, does anyone have an extra bottle of conditioner? Just kidding. Chelle53, I guess we'll have to get through thing together.
