Bleeding/Stomach Distorted

I am experiencing bleeding after intercourse, and stainign for several days later. I am almost 1 year post op for a TAH. This just happened recently. We have not been active because my husband relocated to another state and we lived separted for 7 months.

It has been uncomfortable even with lubricant -- but the bleeding has upset me, it's been two days and I am still staining lightly. Don't have health insurance, and was wondering if any of you have experienced this?

Also, 4 months before my TAH I had another abdominal surgery, removal of intestinged and some colon. My stomach seemed so distended, the surgeon said the intestines would recede in 6 months, but then I had the emergency hysterectomy. Almost 1 year later, my stomach is distended to about a 6 month pregnancy, and it's also shaped weird. My doctor says to lose weight, but I am about 30lbs overweight, and this stomach is hard as a rock. Anyone have this problem . . . thanks, I am so upset about these things.

I am on Premarin .3, but my subscription runs out, and will have to be off until we get insurance in a few months . . . I'm afraid how that will be??????

Bleeding/Stomach Distorted

(((Maria))) the bleeding after sex sounds like it is probably vaginal dryness/atrophy. Using some vaginal estrogen can help a lot with that problem. If you don't get something to help, the chances are that it will progress to include urethral atrophy, which leads to urinary stress incontinence (leaking when you laugh, sneeze, cough, jump, etc.). I'm afraid this situation is only going to get worse, plus have other symptoms added, if you stop your Premarin and don't take some other form of estrogen replacement. The best solution is continuing your Premarin (or other systemic HRT) plus adding some vaginal estrogen (like Premarin cream, for example). If the cost of the Premarin is an issue, you might ask your DR about trying generic oral estradiol - it's a lot cheaper, and you can make it cheaper still by breaking each tablet into quarters and letting one dissolve under your tongue. Ask your DR about this.

As far as the distorted abdomen goes, I can relate. I had most of my colon removed three years ago, and my abdomen got enormous. I also gained weight in the process because I could not exercise for a long time. In the past couple of years I've lost 40 pounds, and my belly is substantially smaller, but it will never go back to the way it was before. It doesn't feel particularly fat, just big. I wish I had better news... losing weight is definitely helpful, but I don't think it's the complete answer. I don't know what is at this point... for me, I've just tried to accept that my body isn't going to be the same as it was before, and that's OK.

I hope this helps.
s,
-Linda
