Message from my mother

I'm howling here. During my first surgery my mom went shopping but not at the mall up the street but the one an hour away! I remember the post op team asking me where she was! The day after my 2nd surgery she asked me if we could go see the cherry blossoms in DC. I was still laid up on the couch recovering from anathesia and wicked gas pains! Oh mum. It must be so hard to see your child ill. I wonder what she'll suggest this time. I wouldn't pass up having her present during surgery.

Message from my mother

I was telling my Dh the other day of how I thought I was becoming crazy like my mother (who has not had a hyster) and Dh laughed and said,"No, honey, they're taking yours out. you'll be fine." You kind of have to know my mom(LOOOONEY TOOON...but i love her )

OH...almost forgot,...funny story about us ending up just like our mothers. so, like 4 yrs ago after my hubby and i moved to CT, my parents came out to stay with us..When we lived there we had a townhouse (garage on floor1, living room and kitchen on floor2, brooms on floor3)..Long story short, too late...
My hubby decided to go get a glass of water in floor 2 where the parents were sleeping...my mom had a hankerin for some water as well..my mom sleeps nude (not a pretty site unless you are my father, i guess). Yup, you guessed it. Mom is standing at the fridge right as DH walks in...I have never heard my DH scream that loud..it was four years ago and I can't tell that story without cracking up ....DH still wont listen to me tell that story.
He came running upstairs with his hands over his eyes just going, "oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god....."

ROFL...OH< it STILL cracks me up!!!!!

Moral of the story...I have had a gym membership and am VERY careful about the foods that I eat.

This thread is hilarious. ROFL. The stories I can tell. I love my mom but man i do not want her in the hospital or anywhere near the day of my surgery. She would have me a nervous wreck. She'll probably tell me it's all in my mind. Everything's all in your mind. Morning sickness from pregnancy - all in your mind. Labor pains - well she had six children and didn't suffer labor pains, all in your mind. Then she'll want to direct the doctor - you're using the wrong scapel. I'll call her when I'm a few days post-op. pray for my mom - the day I had to go to the ER and found out I was about to die - I also found out Mom has been diagnosed with Parkinsons. She's not taking it too well.

I am 46 and 1 week after surgery I had the worst constipation. Well I was on the phone with my mom who lives across country and was telling her of the surgery and constipation experiances. She said "You know that's what happens when people get old. They sit around talking about their surgeries and bodily functions." I blurted out "OH MY GOD - I have become my mother"
I do love her!

I just wanted to thank everyone for sharing the stories about your mothers. My mother is bipolar, she has never gotten good treatment for her problems, and we've never been close. Since she lives 1000 miles away from me, I didn't even tell her about the surgery until it was over. I'm sure it's great to have someone to share that bond with, hopefully get a few laughs out of this serious situation. Anyway, your stories made me smile, thanks.
