silly question here, sorry!

Okay, its a beautiful day out there, perfect for drying clothes on the line. It was like that a few days ago, and I resisted temptation. Resisted it today too, but I am wondering when can I start hanging my laundry out? I promise I will get help bringing the basket to and from the line.....
Lovin' the sunshine.

silly question here, sorry!

Hi I think that depends... on how heavy the wet items are (sheets and towels might be a ) and also how much reaching you'd have to do to hang them on your line. You wouldn't want to be stretching your DR's internal "handiwork" too much.

Sounds like a lovely idea, though... I like the smell of laundry that's been hung out in the sun!

Thanks for the reality check. Towels and sheets are what I love to hang out-just love that smell when they come in, fresh on the bed, in shower <<sigh>> To the dryer it is!

Hi Iluvpurple,
Glad to hear you are feeling well enough to want to hang laundry. I agree, I love the smell of fresh laundry, especially sheets. Give it a few more weeks. You are only two weeks out, and then test a few items and see if you feel any pulling or pain. Remember, you don't just hang the sheets, you kind of shake them out and that would be a bit hard on you. I feel like you, I couldn't wait to get back to doing things I love to do, mine being mowing the grass which I didn't do until week 7 and then mowed 1/2 the lawn, rested and then did the rest. Take Care!!

Iluvpurple, I would watch the reaching also. I don't hang laundry outside because I am deathly afraid of spiders (and our back yard has enough of them). I made the mistake of getting up on a step stool, and reaching above my head to reach a shelf for chocolate of all things, and it hurt quite a bit.
What helps me with laundry is a rolling laundry cart. It is made of metal, has three hanging laundry bags, has a rack above to hang your clothes on, and a flat surface at the top to pile your folded things on. I've had mine for years, and bought it at Target. I've been doing laundry again since about two to three weeks post-op.
