My paperwork with all my appointments, hospital map, etc. arrived in the mail today. Did anyone else have to do a pre-surgery phone assessment with a registered nurse prior to surgery date? I have one of those scheduled for June 6th. Pre-op appt on June 8th, and surgery (TAH/BSO) is on June 15th at 9am.
Luckily I still need to get my house in order so I have that to keep me occupied and my nerves somewhat at bay.
I was OK until today. Having the paperwork arrived seemed to make it more "real" somehow.

Yup, someone called a few days before surgery to ask all the basic medical backround info. HAve you had a heart attack, seizures, high blood pressure, etc. It takes a little bit to answer everything, but it's better than doing it the morning of surgery when you can't think straight!

Hi Aerri! It does make it seem real. I had to do a phone assessment with a nurse, which cut down on my time spent in pre-op, as well as cut down on the time the anaesthesiologist had to ask questions. Some of the questions were repetitive upon arrival at the castle, but I didn't mind because I'd rather everyone have the right answers.

Everyone on the site told me that waiting was the worst part. Of course, I couldn't imagine how that could be true. It was!

Feel free to ask whatever questions you may have. Answers to my questions helped with my nerves before my surgery. I had a TAH-BSO too.

There are some great resources on the site for questions for your preop appt.

Take care of you!

I certainly know what you mean about the paperwork making it seem real.

I also hear you on the housecleaning frenzy. I actually caught myself starting to re-wash clean clothes just because they had gotten a little wrinkled folded up in the drawer. Believe me, I don't think my house has ever been in as good order as it was when I went in for my visit.
