Hot flashes on HRT?

I had my TVH in December 05 and have struggled with migraines and trying to decide whether the Vivelle patch was causing them or not. After reading here, I saw my doctor and am now on Vivelle patch .0375 and one pump of Progensa at night.

Didn't really have hot flashes before...although my core temp is definitely higher post surgery...but since going back on the patch and adding the cream I am having multiple hot flashes every day. They aren't the "sweat dripping down your face" kind, but are definitely uncomfortable and unpredictable.

Anyone else find that hot flashes started with HRT?

Hot flashes on HRT?

Hot flashes can be a sign of a fluctuation in your hormone levels, it's not unusual to have them when beginning or changing hrt. I would give it some more time. It's a good idea to keep a journal of your symptoms when starting or changing hrt. This can help to see if things are getting better or worse over time.

Hot flashes on HRT?

Hey gatechfan!!! Not only did we have our surgery the same day but both of my sons go to GA Tech. Small world!!! (My oldest daughter and myself went to UGA so we are the house divided!!)
I kept my ovaries but am having mild hot flashes now so I think that they did not wake up from surgery. I can not take HRT because of a family history of blood clots so I guess I will suffer through. If your hot flashes started with HRT then maybe I'm not missing anything.

Hot flashes on HRT?

That is too funny gadawg! Now if we were in the same hospital, THAT would be a small world. I was at Gwinnett. I'm sure your house is quite the battlefield during the big game every year

I had what I call warm spells without the HRT, but what I'm having now are a little worse. I'm going to wait it out for a little while and see how they go. I go back to the doctor for a check on this new regimen in 6 weeks.

Hot flashes on HRT?

I was at Emory Eastside in Snellville so we were in the same area. What a hoot!!
I am having "warm spells", not really hot flashes like I have read that some women experience. All of my symptons like the warm spells, not sleeping, dry "old" skin started after my hyst. Plus one of the reasons I had the surgery (prolapse) has returned...the repair if I had it to do over again, I would have waited longer. Good luck with getting your HRT adjusted.

Hot flashes on HRT?

Hi gatechfan!

I think waiting it out is a good plan. As (((Kim M))) mentioned, changes in HRT can cause us to have symptoms. Over time they hopefully will settle down and go away.

I wanted to mention for anyone who doesn't know that there is a Neighborhood forum on this site with a message board for each state! It's a great place to visit with others in your area, and of course you can PM and e-mail each other for non-hysterectomy/hormone talk, too! Here's the link to the message board for Georgia.

Let us know how you're doing on your hormone therapy, okay?
