Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy

Has anyone had a laproscopic supracervical hysterectormy? I am having one because I have a large fibroid and have experienced heavy menstrual periods. I had both a failed endometrial ablation (balloon) and a failed Nova Sure earlier this year. What should I expect? Thanks for all of your help. I don't know what I would do without this site!

Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy

Hi Laura! I'm not sure how much I could help as mine was LAVH. What I can tell you is that my laparoscopic incision sites are tiny, only barely an inch long, closed with surgical glue (very nice), but the one at my belly button had a fair sized bruise below it. The sites are still sometimes tender. I was quite fortunate in that I had no gas issues, but the hospital gave me simethicone tablets to chew with each meal. I was also up to the bathroom a lot to pee, so I got my walking in. Our insides still have the same amount of healing to do, there's just not the big incision on the outside. So you'll have to be a little more careful to not overdo it as you really won't have the "battle scar" to remind you. Pain really wasn't all that bad. I only had OTC meds when I got home. I took them faithfully at first, but started to cut back when I started to sleep through or beyond the next dose. I was totally off them by the 8th or 9th day.
I'm not totally pain free, just a minor nuisance, but it reminds me to slow down and doesn't require anything more than some couch time.
I know its not the same surgery method, but I hope I've helped some, as there are some similarities.

Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy

Hi LauraArtist,

I had a LSH and I am still very, very pleased with my surgery results. One of the best things I ever did for my long term health.

I had a LSH too... I think it is definately a better option than TAH. I'm 5 weeks out now, and I think I'll hit the gym next week! I was able to go back to work after about ten days. If you have further questions, let us know!
