As long as the 'g' spot remains, I don't see how sex can be any diffrent. Sorry for the TMI

Hello, I am in the same boat as you. Possibly scar tissue may cause them to do abdominal hyst. but as of now they are going to try for a LAVH, but like you wont know till I wake up. Are you scared? I am nervous. I am more scared about the pain.

Wow, get off the computer for one night and miss a doozy of a conversation....Yes, thank you all for your links, and personal experiences...all are helpful, but I do know that it is sooooooo individual.
I do have to say, that one of the major things I notice in my sisters that dont have a choice about cervix removal, is the fear of sex changing. It is a really sore spot (no pun intended). That is where I fear losing my "femininity". I have no real emotional issues with the hyst itself...except the idea that not having a cervix will change everything. I panicked there for a minute, but once again, the sisters have settled me down. I dont have to go upstairs for my Xanax after all!
Thanks again!

I had my Doctor take my cervix and everything else!

I had a TAH/BSO on Nov. 16, 2005. When my Doctor and I were discussing my surgery, she asked me about my cervix, I told my Doctor she could have it!!! I often had pain with sex when my cervix would get hit, it was like being poked with a cattle-prod! (not that I have ever been poked with a cattle-prod mind you. . .)

I am now VERY Happy to have my cervix gone!! Now I no longer have pain with sex at all. Sex is now much more pleasurable, better sensation(s), better orgasms - much more intense than before surgery. . ., my vagina does not feel any shorter because my cervix was removed. I do not have any more problems with incontinence than I had before my hyst. I had problems with urine leakage when I sneezed or coughed hard before my surgery and I still have that now. I now do Kegel exercises nightly and they seem to help.

Talk with your doctor before your surgery and discuss with her the pros and cons of keeping or removing your cervix, if you have your cervix removed then that is one less cancer you have to worry about, no risk for getting cervical cancer!

Good luck with your decision.

even with abdominal hyst if they go in larascopic you will only have to very small scars on the belly and one through the naval. it was great for me i rarely had to take a pain pill and was driving in 7 days.

I am surprised that they did not repair your bladder the same time this is what they usually do. unless you did not tell them about the leaky bladder.
