Lupron vs Surgery any experience with Lupron?

Greetings! I am 34 almost 35 (3 more weeks)I have been previously diagnosed with PCOS. I take Met for it and it is helping my insulin levels. I also have endometriosis. The pain is to the point were I have to take very strong drugs to sleep. My doctor has given me the option of Lupron or Surgery. I have had BAD LUCK in the past taking hormones so I am very concerned about the Lupron. I have had the adhesions burn once already about five years ago. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Lupron vs Surgery any experience with Lupron?

I have used Lupron twice and both times they did the trick. One thing I was not told, though, is that you can max out on the Lupron, so know that you can only use it for 12-14 months, and then that's it. You will go into chemical menopause on it, no periods-which is nice, but the hotflashes are a trip!
I wish you best of luck!

Lupron

My 2nd opinion doctor wants to try Lupron, and I also am scared to try it. My 1st dr ( I had for 15 years) just wanted to do a hysterectomy on me!!!!!!!!! (no other options, just do the hysterectomy!!) I am 33 and I dont want to just opt for that! Let me know what you decide!

Lupron vs Surgery any experience with Lupron?

I had a good experience with Lupron. I did have some pretty bad headaches at first and then hotflashes, but these side-effects were better than the pain & bleeding. I don't have any experience with the Metformin. I hope you find something that makes you feel better.

Gentle s & best wishes~

Lupron vs Surgery any experience with Lupron?

I did lupron for 4 months before surgery to calm down the endo. It was great for me. I also believe there is a time limit on how long you can be on it. Also it is very expensive if you do not have a prescription plan. I believe it is $570.00 a shot. I fortunately have a prescription plan. One side effect beside the flashes is retaining water. I did not find that out until after my 3rd shot. Good Luck to you.

Lupron vs Surgery any experience with Lupron?

I am on my second round of Lupron. I did a 6 month injection about 2 years ago due to endo and I am currently on my 4th shot of the second round. First round was easier...the side effects are kicking my BUTT! Hot flashes, severe headaches, moody like you would not believe, my body hurts and I bruise easy. BUT, I am glad I am doing the Lupron again. I wanted to try everything first before having MAJOR surgery. I have no more pain from the endo (during the shots) and no periods (YES!!!!). My first injection lasted 2 years.....

Yes the injections are expensive and you have to do to the doc's office every 30 days to get the shot.....Dealing with the insurance company was the hardest!

I would try the Lupron first. After a couple injections, you can always stop if its not working....can't stop a surgery once its completed!!! hehe!

Thank you!

I have made my decision. I appreciate all of your advice and support. I am going to have the surgery. I spoke with a PCOS specialist and she said I would have to be on Lupron for the next twenty-five years. Otherwise it would keep coming back. My blessing is my husband works at our hospital in surgery and knows everyone so I will be well taken care of. I will keep you all updated. I can't do the surgery till August. My support team is not available until them.
Peace and Love to you all Dy

Lupron vs Surgery any experience with Lupron?

Glad you were able to make a decision! I was 18 when I found out I had endo. I was 24 when I did my first round of Lupron. I was not ready for a hysterectomy. The only reason I did the second round of Lupron cause I wanted to give it one more try and a little time to do some research! I go back to the doc on 7/7/2006 for another repeat pap (severe displaysia) and we are going to review my options for THE surgery! Don't forget to post your surgery date!
Good Luck!!!!
