still soreness and discharge 17 weeks post rectocele repair

Hi.. I am still having this discharge...sometimes drying yellow, crusty and white on underwear, sometimes watery, sometimes with green globules, sometimes greenish and mucousy..and there is a very sore area somewhere down there.

The medical opinion 5 weeks ago now was that there was a stitch that would eventually go and there was no infection or anything at all to worry about. There was some issue about a layer of skin having formed a fold...

I have not heard of anyone else who has experienced this. Please let me know if this is familiar to anyone out there. I am getting so fed up.

Gosh, that doesnt sound right to me. I havent had a discharge for a long time, and I am riding my bike again. I still have pressure and trouble with bowel movements, but my healing part is good. What does the doc say? i would have him take a look. Sounds like an infection of some sort. maybe someone else has had this before. i have not had that problem, others but that is not one of them. Are you using any estrogen cream? they say that helps with healing. Gosh i hope you feel better soon. it is such a pain, isnt it? I mean you start to wonder if you will ever be done with all of this. I feel like I will never be the same. I would call the doc and tell him you need to be examined. Best of luck. Sue

I had a rectocele repaired at the same time as my hyst. I remember having that brownish discharge for 11 or 12 weeks and my OB/GYN saying that it was due to him using stronger stiches in order to ensure that the repairs would hold. Afterwards, I had orangy/yellowish spotting for a few weeks. However, I never had the green or white discharge you describe.

Have you mentionned this to your doctor? The situation may have changed since your last visit and he/she may want to examine you.

Lots of s Please, do keep us posted.

Thanks for your replies, it does help!!!...The surgeon does admit to using green stitches!!! He says he can see them easily!! I did tell him that they were very scary to find in the bath water with that colour if you didn't know that. The discharge has never actually been white, it just dries a crusty white sometimes. Other times it stains yellow. There is no odour.

Dany, he may well have used very strong thread as this was repeat surgery and he warned of having to stitch really tightly - 3rd time now. And I always seem to have had some reaction to stitches too.

I may well get it checked out if it doesn't go in an other 2 weeks, after my holiday. I also have a little pouch that has formed, on the perineum I think. I think that is where this drainage is coming from as I have been told there is a little hole there.

Fed up now though!!

I'm so sorry you are still having trouble. Although you are still having discharge has the amount decreased? It would seem to me that most of your sutures should have dissolved by now. You may have a stubborn stitch that's causing you some grief or you could have a granuloma. Maybe a call to your Dr would be a good idea. Even if it is nothing at least you'll have piece of mind. Keep in touch and let us know what you find.
