TAH - Piece o' cake!!

This experience has been truly wonderful. Well, not that any surgery is wonderful--but I have had a LOT less discomfort than I expected, particularly after I came home.

I am 52; made the decision to do the hysterectomy after getting tired of the heavy, heavy bleeding caused my multiple fibroids. It was also keeping me borderline anemic all the time.

My doctor did the most fabulous thing--recommended an epidural for use during and after surgery. It was started just before surgery and remained in place for about 48 hours. Let's see....surgery early Tuesday; that removed Wednesday afternoon. I could still get up and walk around, but I felt virtually no pain! After it was removed, I used other pain meds offered and never "suffered"--my doctor and I AGREE that there's too much suffering in this world as it is! No sense suffering through the first days after surgery!

I came home Friday morning and spent the afternoon in bed. Napped a LOT Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. After conquering an early stage UTI early this week, I am now feeling fine. Pretty much normal--cleaning a toilet, sweeping a floor. Just whatever light chores I want to do with still an excuse not to do much.

So if you are hesitant because you are fearful of the aftermath, be assured that this can be an easy, slightly painless, positive thing to do for yourself. Boy, do I look forward to clearing all those period supplies out of the closet!!!! My daughter can inherit!
