adnemyosis is a disease that cannot generally be detected without a pathology report (ie hysterectomy). It is where your uterine tissue grows in on itself and invade the muscle wall of the uterus causing it to swell. As your period draws closer the tissue swells with the blood needed to feed the fetus, upon the period the tissues slough off the unwated blood and tissue IN your uterine muscle wall..this is why it's so painful and hard to detect. Currently the only 100% cure for adnemyosis is a hysterectomy.

Yes, I suspect I have adenomyosis also and can't wait to see the path report. I just want it all out so I can get back to a normal life! My doctor hasn't mentioned it and didn't find it when he did my other tests, but there's so much else going on with me (polyps, fibroids, etc.) that I think these could all be masking the adeno.

Maybe your old Dr. wasn`t sure about adenomyosis.......the only positive way to diagnois adenomyosis is through dissection of the uterus after a hyst...............it can be "suspected" but not truely confirmed until this is done by a pathlogist.......I had it and had NO IDEA I did until after my hyst and got my path report .......I was VERY surprised to find out i had it ...........and the pathlogist said it was BAD!!!!! Best wishes to you as you wait for you hyst date Renee

They can never really tell exactly what you have until they go in. My doc thought I had endo before surgery, but it turned out I didn't have endo, but path report said I did have adeno.
