Is it a fibroid or a polyp???

I had abnormal bleeding (for a month on and off, mostly on and heavy) in Dec. 2005/Jan. 2006.

Ultrasounds in April and May 2006 showed a small intramural fibroid in posterior uterus.

Periods haven't been extremely heavy, but have lasted anywhere from 5-12 days.

Office hysteroscopy showed a polyp (sessile) in posterior uterus. Doc wanted to do polypectomy and endo ablation. I didn't want ablation, so I went to a doc who did...

D&C and operating hysteroscopy yesterday. He said I have no polyp (!!!!) but have bad fibroid(s) (not sure if one or many; I was not fully awake).

I don't know what to think. I go back to him in 4 weeks for a follow-up. He told my husband the question is what do I want to do about my fibroid(s)?

Right now I want to do nothing! Wish he had taken it (them) out. But I think they may have been too deep in uterine lining/muscle.

Any thoughts?

Is it a fibroid or a polyp???

Hi Eco,

I too had fibroids and they are not fun to deal with. It can be scary deciding what to do.

Possibly when you meet with your Dr. again you can discuss a UFE( Uterine Fibroid Embolization), a procedure that generally shrinks fibroids or a myomectomy, removal of the fibroids only. And your Dr. might just suggest a ~wait and see~ for awhile.

Best wishes,
